Andrew Parker (politician)
Andrew Parker (May 21, 1805 – January 15, 1864) was a 19th-century American lawyer and politician who was a one-term Democratic member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Pennsylvania from 1851 to 1853. Formative years Andrew Parker was born in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania on May 21, 1805. He attended public schools and graduated from Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, in 1824. Career Parker studied law in Carlisle, was admitted to the bar in 1826 and commenced practice in Lewistown, Pennsylvania. He was subsequently appointed deputy attorney general of Mifflin County, Pennsylvania. He later moved to Mifflintown, Pennsylvania, in 1831, where he practiced law. Parker was elected as a Democrat to the Thirty-second Congress. He continued the practice of law in Mifflintown until his death. Death an interment Parker died in Mifflintown on January 15, 1864. Andrew Parker (zoologist)
Andrew Parker (born 1967) (PhD Macquarie University) is a zoologist who has worked on biomimetics. He worked at the Natural History Museum in London, and from 1990 to 1999 he was a Royal Society University Research Fellow and is a research associate of the Australian Museum and University of Sydney and from 1999 until 2005 he worked at the University of Oxford. Parker is a visiting research fellow at Green Templeton College where he is head of a research team into photonic structures and eyes. Andrew Parker (athlete)
Andrew Parker (born 11 January 1965) is a Jamaican track and field athlete who competed in the 110 metres hurdles. He won the event at the 1987 Pan American Games and represented Jamaica at the 1988 Summer Olympics as well as the 1987 World Championships in Athletics. Career His first international medal came at the 1983 CARIFTA Games, where he was the gold medallist in the high hurdles. A 110 m and 400 metres hurdles double followed at the 1984 Central American and Caribbean Junior Championships in Athletics held in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He studied at Arizona State University in the United States and competed collegiately for them as part of the Arizona State Sun Devils track and field team. Andrew David Parker, Baron Parker of Minsmere, (born 8 May 1962), is a British life peer and former intelligence officer who served as Director General of MI5 from 2013 to 2020. He served as Lord Chamberlain of the Household from 2021 to 2024, and is a crossbench member of the House of Lords. Education Parker was educated at a comprehensive school in Newcastle upon Tyne and then at Churchill College, Cambridge, where he studied the natural sciences. Career Parker joined the Security Service in 1983. He was seconded to HM Customs and Excise as Director Intelligence in 1999 before becoming Director, International Terrorism at the Security Service in February 2005.
