Andrew Kuan
Kuan Yoke Loon, commonly known as Andrew Kuan () is the managing director of executive search firm Blue Arrow. From 2001 to 2004, Kuan was the group chief financial officer of the Jurong Town Corporation, one of four designated statutory boards that confer eligibility to contest in the presidential elections. Kuan applied to run as a candidate in the 2005 Singapore presidential election. However, his application for a Certificate of Eligibility was rejected as his seniority and responsibility as JTC's Group Chief Financial Officer were, in the opinion of the Presidential Elections Committee (PEC), not comparable to those required under the Constitution. 2011 Singaporean Presidential Election
Presidential elections were held in Singapore on 27 August 2011. Incumbent president S. R. Nathan, who had been uncontested election, elected unopposed in 1999 Singaporean presidential election, 1999 and 2005 Singaporean presidential election, 2005, did not seek re-election. It was the fourth elected Singaporean presidential election, as well as the second to be contested by more than one candidate. A non-partisan position, the candidates contesting in the election were Tony Tan, Tan Cheng Bock, Tan Jee Say and Tan Kin Lian, who were all independents or had resigned from any political parties that they had previously been members of. They were all issued the Certificate of Eligibility (COE) as well as a community certificate to be able to contest in the election as per the eligibility requirements. ''The New Paper'' is a Singaporean newspaper. It was originally published in tabloid format as a "noon paper", then from 2016 as a freesheet in the morning from 7 a.m. onwards. In December 2021 the paper went to digital only. History First launched on 26 July 1988, by Singapore Press Holdings (SPH), it had an average daily circulation of 101,600 in August 2010, according to SPH. In 1991, the paper organised the New Paper Big Walk, a mass-participation walking event. The event came to be held annually in Singapore.
