Andrew Knox (bishop)
Andrew Knox (1559 – 27 March 1633) was a Scottish churchman who was Bishop of the Isles in Scotland from 1605-1619 and Bishop of Raphoe in Ireland from 1610-1633. Early life He was the second son of John Knox of Ranfurly in Renfrewshire. He was educated at the University of Glasgow, where he graduated M.A. in 1579. In 1581 he was ordained minister of Lochwinnoch in Renfrewshire, and in 1581 was translated to the abbey church of Paisley. On 6 March 1590 he was appointed on a commission of select clergymen to promote subscription to the confession of faith and covenant over the whole kingdom. In December 1592 he was instrumental in arresting George Kerr on the Isle of Cumray as he was on the point of sailing for Spain, and was thereby the means of bringing to light and frustrating the conspiracy of the Earls of Huntly, Errol, and Angus. Andrew Knox (Canadian Politician)
Andrew Knox (April 26, 1866 – August 4, 1946) was an Ireland, Irish-born farmer and political figure in Saskatchewan, Canada. He represented Prince Albert (federal electoral district), Prince Albert in the House of Commons of Canada from 1917 to 1925. He was elected to Parliament in the 1917 Canadian federal election, 1917 federal election as a Liberal-Unionist supporter of Sir Robert Borden's wartime Unionist Party (Canada), Union Government. After the war, he crossed the floor to join the new Progressive Party of Canada, Progressive Party. He was born in County Londonderry, Ireland, the son of James Knox and the former Miss Boyd, and was educated in Coleraine. Knox came to Canada in 1890 and settled on a farm in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. In 1900, he married Elizabeth Short. Knox was a director of the Saskatchewan Grain Growers' Association from 1907 to 1918. He served as mayor of Prince Albert from 1915 to 1917.
