Andrew Joseph White
Andrew Joseph White is an American young adult fiction author. He is best known for ''New York Times'' bestselling dystopian young adult novel '' Hell Followed with Us'' (2022). Early life and education White began writing stories about queer people when he was 12 years old. He went to Handley High School in Winchester, Virginia, graduating in 2016. While in high school, he participated in the nonprofit Project Write program. White graduated from George Mason University in 2022 with an MFA in Creative Writing. Career White's books center LGBT characters and themes. Paste magazine described his writing as "filled with difficult truths, righteous fury, and complex queer characters". His desire to write about LGBT characters was inspired by the many anti-transgender laws begin passed in state legislatures. Gaithersburg Book Festival
The Gaithersburg Book Festival is an annual literary festival held on the third Saturday each May in Gaithersburg, Maryland, United States, which started in 2010. It was conceived of by then City Council member Jud Ashman, who currently serves as Mayor, with the support of then Mayor Sidney Katz and the City Council and the Cultural Arts Advisory Committee. The one day event was held each year between 2010 through 2019 on the grounds of Gaithersburg City Hall. There was a virtual Festival in 2020 when live events were cancelled due to the pandemic. Since 2021, the Festival has been held at the City's Bohrer Park. The Festival is free to attend. Compound Fracture (novel)
''Compound Fracture'' is a 2024 thriller young adult novel by Andrew Joseph White published by Peachtree Teen. Set in West Virginia in 2017, the story follows Miles Abernathy, a trans, autistic teen, whose family is part of an ongoing feud with the sheriff over the exploitation of the locals. He releases photographic evidence of the sheriff staging an accident that injured his father and killed others and is beaten close to death by the sheriff's son in retaliation. After recovering he becomes haunted by the spirit of Saint Abernathy, an executed relative.
