Andrew Goodwin (cricketer)
Andrew John Goodwin (born 3 September 1982) is a former English cricketer. Goodwin was a left-handed opening-batsman who bowled leg break. He was born at Burton-on-Trent, Staffordshire. Goodwin represented the Derbyshire Cricket Board in two List A matches against Wiltshire and Cambridgeshire in the 2001 Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy. Against Wiltshire, he was dismissed for 38 by James Tomlinson, while against Cambridgeshire he was dismissed for a duck by Ajaz Akhtar. In that same season, he also appeared for the Derbyshire Cricket Board in three MCCA Knockout Trophy matches. Burton upon Trent, also known as Burton-on-Trent or simply Burton, is a market town in the borough of East Staffordshire in the county of Staffordshire, England, close to the border with Derbyshire. James Tomlinson
James Andrew Tomlinson (born 12 June 1982) is an English former cricketer. A left-arm medium pace bowler, capable of producing swing at a brisk pace, Tomlinson first appeared in senior cricket for the Hampshire Cricket Board in List A cricket in the 2000 NatWest Trophy. He first appeared for Hampshire in first-class cricket in 2002, at this stage of career he had to work his cricket career around his studies at Cardiff University. In 2003 he was Hampshire's recipient of the NBC Denis Compton Award. His early career with Hampshire was beset by injury, which limited his appearances. By 2008, Tomlinson had established himself in the Hampshire team, mostly as a specialist first-class player. The National Counties Cricket Association Knockout Cup was started in 1983 as a knockout one-day competition for the National Counties in English cricket. At first it was known as the ''English Industrial Estates Cup'', before being called the ''Minor Counties Knock Out Competition'' from 1986 to 1987, the ''Holt Cup'' from 1988 to 1992, the ''MCC Trophy'' from 1993 to 1998, the ''ECB 38-County Cup'' from 1999 to 2002 and the ''MCCA Knockout Trophy'' from 2003 to 2005. It was called the ''MCCA Trophy'' from 2006 and 2019 until the Minor Counties were rebranded as National Counties in 2020. Ajaz Akhtar (born 1 September 1968) is a former British first-class cricketer. Akhtar is a right-handed batsman who bowls right-arm medium pace. He was born in Bahawalpur, Pakistan. Upon coming to the United Kingdom in 1971, he was educated at Deacon's School, Teesside University, University of Hertfordshire and Durham University. 2001 Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy
The 2001 Cheltenham and Gloucester Trophy was an English limited overs county cricket tournament which was held between 1 May and 1 September 2001. It was the first Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy following its change of name from the NatWest Trophy, with new sponsors Cheltenham & Gloucester plc. The tournament was won by Somerset who defeated Leicesterhire by 41 runs in the final at Lord's. Format The 18 first-class counties, were joined by all twenty Minor Counties, plus Huntingdonshire. Cambridgeshire County Cricket Club
Cambridgeshire County Cricket Club is one of twenty minor county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Cambridgeshire including the Isle of Ely. The original Cambridgeshire club, established in 1844, is classified as a first-class team from 1857 to 1871.
