Andrew D. Hamilton
Andrew David Hamilton (born 3 November 1952) is a British American chemist and academic who is the 16th and current President of New York University. From 2009 to 2015, he served as the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Oxford. Before leading Oxford, he was Provost of Yale University from 2004 to 2008. Early life Andrew Hamilton was a pupil at the Royal Grammar School, Guildford. He studied chemistry at the University of Exeter, graduating with a first class Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree. After studying for a master's degree at the University of British Columbia, he received his PhD degree from St John's College, Cambridge in 1980 with a thesis titled "Models for oxygen-binding hemoproteins" under the supervision of Alan R. Battersby and then spent a post-doctoral period at the Université Louis Pasteur in Strasbourg. Molecular Biophysics
Molecular biophysics is a rapidly evolving interdisciplinary area of research that combines concepts in physics, chemistry, engineering, mathematics and biology. It seeks to understand biomolecular systems and explain biological function in terms of molecular structure, structural organization, and dynamic behaviour at various levels of complexity (from single molecules to supramolecular structures, viruses and small living systems).
