Andrew Britton (cricketer)
Samuel Andrew Britton (born 10 February 1988) is an Irish cricketer. He is a right-arm fast bowler and has played a single One Day International for Ireland. Career Youth internationals Andrew Britton has represented Ireland's under-15 and under-19 teams. As of August 2009, Britton had played six Youth One Day Internationals, all part of the 2008 U-19 World Cup which took place in February–March 2008. He took 9 wickets in the tournament at an average of 18.66; Britton was Ireland U-19's leading wicket-taker for the tournament, although 20th overall. His best bowling figures of 4 wickets for 14 runs (4/14) came against Zimbabwe U-19s in the 13th place play-off, which was Ireland's final match of the tournament. Phil Simmons
Philip Verant Simmons (born 18 April 1963) is a Trinidadian cricket coach and former player who is currently a coach of the Bangladesh national cricket team. He played international cricket for the West Indies from 1987 to 1999 as an opening batsman and right-arm medium pace bowler. He excelled in the One Day International (ODI) format and represented the West Indies at three World Cups. After retiring from playing, Simmons spent two periods as head coach of the West Indies (2015–2016 and 2019–2022). He has also spent stints in charge of Zimbabwe (2004–2005), Ireland (2007–2015), and Afghanistan (2017–2019). 2017 Inter-Provincial Trophy
The 2017 Inter-Provincial Trophy was the fifth edition of the Inter-Provincial Trophy, a Twenty20 cricket competition played in Ireland. It was held from 26 May to 11 August 2017. It was the first edition of the competition to be played with full Twenty20 status, following the outcome of a meeting by the International Cricket Council (ICC) in October 2016. In April 2017, Cricket Ireland approved the participation of a fourth team, Munster Reds, for the tournament. Over (cricket)
In cricket, an over consists of six legal deliveries bowled from one end of a cricket pitch to the player batting at the other end, almost always by a single bowler. A maiden over is an over in which no runs are scored that count against the bowler (so leg byes and byes may be scored as they are not counted against the bowler). A wicket maiden is a maiden over in which a wicket is also taken. Similarly, double and triple wicket maidens are when two and three wickets are taken in a maiden over. After six deliveries the umpire calls 'over'; the fielding team switches ends, and a different bowler is selected to bowl from the opposite end. The team with the most runs wins in many versions of the game, and always draws at worst (see Result (cricket), result), except for some results decided by the Duckworth–Lewis–Stern method, DLS method, which is used in rain-shortened limited-overs cricket, limited-overs games when the two teams have had a different number of opportunities to score runs. Boyd Rankin
William Boyd Rankin (born 5 July 1984) is a Northern Irish former cricketer who played international cricket for Ireland, and briefly also played for England. He is a right-arm medium-fast bowler. He is the brother of fellow cricketer David Rankin. Born in Derry, Rankin is a tall bowler who stands at 6 ft 8 inches and has a distinctive bouncing action in his bowling. Rankin revealed in an interview that his action is modelled on bowlers like Curtly Ambrose and Glenn McGrath who "hit the deck from just back of a length outside off stump". First-class cricket, along with List A cricket and Twenty20 cricket, is one of the highest-standard forms of cricket. A first-class match is of three or more days scheduled duration between two sides of eleven players each and is officially adjudged to be worthy of the status by virtue of the standard of the competing teams. Matches must allow for the teams to play two innings each, although in practice a team might play only one innings or none at all. The etymology of "first-class cricket" is unknown, but the term was used loosely before it acquired official status in 1895, following a meeting of leading English clubs. The Kenya men's national cricket team represents the Republic of Kenya in international cricket. The 2009–10 ICC Intercontinental Cup was the fifth edition of the ICC Intercontinental Cup tournament, an international first-class cricket competition between nations who had not been awarded Test status by the International Cricket Council. The first fixtures were played in July 2009. The format was changed since the previous edition, with a two division system being introduced.
