The Slavic languages, also known as the Slavonic languages, are Indo-European languages spoken primarily by the Slavs, Slavic peoples and their descendants. Andrei Gennadyevich Karlov (; 4 February 1954 – 19 December 2016) was a Russian diplomat who served as the List of ambassadors of Russia to Turkey, Russian ambassador to Turkey and earlier as the Russian Russian Ambassador to North Korea, ambassador to North Korea. Andrei Iosivas (born October 15, 1999; ) is an American professional football wide receiver for the Cincinnati Bengals of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Princeton Tigers and was selected by the Bengals in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL draft. Andrei Andreyevich Gromyko ( – 2 July 1989) was a Soviet politician and diplomat during the Cold War. He served as Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Soviet Union), Minister of Foreign Affairs (1957–1985) and as List of heads of state of the Soviet Union, Chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet (1985–1988). Andrei Glavina (30 November 1881 – 9 February 1925; ; ) was an Austro-Hungarian-born Istro-Romanian writer, professor and politician born in Šušnjevica. Known as the "Apostle of the Istro-Romanians", he is recognized for his struggle for the Istro-Romanian culture and language, being notable his book ''Calindaru lu rumeri din Istrie'', the first in history written in this language in collaboration with Constantin Diculescu. He also managed the creation of an Istro-Romanian municipality in 1922 being the first mayor, giving classes in Istro-Romanian in the only school of the municipality. Andrei Romanovich Chikatilo (; ; 16 October 1936 – 14 February 1994) was a Ukrainian-born Soviet serial killer nicknamed "the Butcher of Rostov", "the Rostov Ripper", and "the Red Ripper" who sexual assault, sexually assaulted, murdered, and mutilated at least fifty-two women and children between 1978 and 1990 in the Russian SFSR, the Ukrainian SSR, and the Uzbek SSR. Chikatilo confessed to fifty-six murders; he was tried for fifty-three murders in April 1992. He was convicted and Capital punishment in Russia, sentenced to death for fifty-two of these murders in October 1992, although the Supreme Court of Russia ruled in 1993 that Burden of proof (law), insufficient evidence existed to prove his guilt in nine of those killings.
