Andrea Siodmok
Andrea Siodmok (née Cooper) (born 1972) is a British industrial designer and Social innovation, social innovator. She is a Professor and Dean of the School of Design at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT University). She is currently also visiting Professor for impact at Northumbria University and a Governor of the Glasgow School of Art. Andrea received an Order of the British Empire, OBE for public service in the 2021 Birthday Honours, Queen's Birthday Honours. Early life and education Siodmok was born in the West Midlands, the daughter of a Military Officer in the Royal Air Force. She attended Garendon High School and Burleigh Community College in Loughborough, boarding at Field House. After this she studied art and design at the University of Wolverhampton, industrial design at Northumbria University, Newcastle Polytechnic and public policy at The London School of Economics. Industrial Design
Industrial design is a process of design applied to physical products that are to be manufactured by mass production. It is the creative act of determining and defining a product's form and features, which takes place in advance of the manufacture or production of the product. It consists purely of repeated, often automated, replication, while craft-based design is a process or approach in which the form of the product is determined by the product's creator largely concurrent with the act of its production. Ibuprofen
Ibuprofen is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that is used for treating pain, fever, and inflammation. This includes painful menstrual periods, migraines, and rheumatoid arthritis. It may also be used to close a patent ductus arteriosus in a premature baby. It can be used by mouth or intravenously. It typically begins working within an hour. Common side effects include heartburn and a rash. Compared to other NSAIDs, it may have other side effects such as gastrointestinal bleeding. It increases the risk of heart failure, kidney failure, and liver failure. At low doses, it does not appear to increase the risk of heart attack; however, at higher doses it may. Ibuprofen can also worsen asthma. While whether it is safe in early pregnancy is unclear, it appears to be harmful in later pregnancy, so is not recommended. Victor Papanek
Victor Josef Papanek (22 November 1923 – 10 January 1998) was an Austrian-born American designer and educator, who became a strong advocate of the socially and ecologically responsible design of products, tools, and community infrastructures. His book "Design for the Real World", originally published in 1971 and translated into more than 24 languages, had lasting international impact. Sir Jonathan Paul Ive (born 27 February 1967) is a British industrial and product designer, as well as businessman. Ive was the chief design officer (CDO) of Apple Inc. from 1997 until 2019 (known as senior vice principal of industrial design until 2015), and serves as Chancellor of the Royal College of Art.
