Andrea Richardson
Andrea Lynn Richardson (born 1962) is an American pathologist and physician-scientist specialized in the molecular pathology of breast cancer. She is the Peter and Judy Kovler Professor in Breast Cancer Research and an associate professor of pathology and oncology at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. Richardson runs a clinic at the Sibley Memorial Hospital. Life Richardson was born in 1962. She earned a Ph.D. and M.D. at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in 1992. Her dissertation was titled, ''Molecular cloning and characterization of the t(2 ; 14) translocation associated with childhood CLL''. Philip W. Tucker was her doctoral advisor. She was an anatomic pathology staff member in the department of pathology and laboratory medicine at Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates from 1993 to 1997. Cancer is a group of diseases involving abnormal cell growth with the potential to invade or spread to other parts of the body. These contrast with benign tumors, which do not spread. Possible signs and symptoms include a lump, abnormal bleeding, prolonged cough, unexplained weight loss, and a change in bowel movements. While these symptoms may indicate cancer, they can also have other causes. Over 100 types of cancers affect humans. Tobacco use is the cause of about 22% of cancer deaths.
