Andrea Kurth
Andrea Kurth (later Schippan then Sredzki, born 30 September 1957) is a German rowing (sport), rower who competed for East Germany in the 1976 Summer Olympics. She was born in Breitenbrunn, Saxony, Breitenbrunn in 1957 and she started for SC Einheit Dresden. In 1976 she was a crew member of the East German boat which won the gold medal in the Rowing at the 1976 Summer Olympics – Women's coxed four, coxed four event. After the 1976 Olympics, the coxed four was absorbed into an eight. Kurth became national champion with that new team and the team went on to become world champion at the 1977 World Rowing Championships on the Bosbaan in the Netherlands. She was the stroke for the eight and later said that the 1977 world championship meant more to her than her Olympic victory. She remained active after 1977 but suffered a setback due to her trainer, Richard Wecke, Republikflucht, fleeing to West Germany while they were in Amsterdam. She was also suffering injury problems. Breitenbrunn, Saxony
Breitenbrunn is a community in the Ore Mountains in the district of Erzgebirgskreis in the Free State of Saxony in Germany. Geography Constituent communities The community consists of Breitenbrunn with Breitenhof, Carolathal, Halbemeile and Rabenberg, Antonsthal with Antonshöhe, Erlabrunn, Steinheidel and Fällbach as well as Rittersgrün and Tellerhäuser. Rowing is the act of propelling a human-powered watercraft using the sweeping motions of oars to displace water and generate reactional propulsion. ''Sächsische Zeitung'' (; "Saxon Newspaper") is a regional German daily newspaper. The paper is published in Dresden. Its circulation is around 227.940, a fall of around 40% since 1998. Around 93% of copies sold are delivered to subscribers. Despite the name, the paper is mainly distributed in east Saxony. The paper's circulation is around ten times that of its main competitor, the '' Dresdner Neueste Nachrichten'', which is part-owned by one of the owners of the Sächsische Zeitung itself. The company which owns the paper, Dresdner Druck- & Verlagshaus GmbH & Co. is itself majority owned by Gruner + Jahr.
