Andorran Local Elections, 2011
The 2011 Andorran local elections were held on 4 December. Voters elected the representatives of the seven parishes. Electoral system Voters elected the members of the municipal councils (''consells de comú'' in Catalan). The electoral law allow the municipal councils to choose their number of seats, which must be an even number between 10 and 16. All city council members were elected in single multi-member districts, consisting of the parish territory, using closed lists. Half of the seats are allocated to the party with more votes. The other half of the seats were allocated using the Hare quota (including the winning party). The ''cònsol major'' (mayor) and the ''cònsol menor'' (deputy mayor) were elected indirectly by the municipal councilors after the election. La Massana
La Massana (; originally ''La Maçana'') is one of the seven parishes of Andorra, parishes of the Principality of Andorra. It is located in the northwest of the country. La Massana is also the name of the main town of the parish. The name Massana derives from the Latin name ''mattianam'' for a variety of apple. Other settlements in the parish are Pal, Andorra, Pal, Arinsal, Erts, Sispony, Anyós, L'Aldosa de la Massana, Puiol del Pui, Escàs, Els Plans, Mas de Ribafeta, Xixerella and Pui. The parish is extremely mountainous and contains the highest mountain in Andorra, Coma Pedrosa (). Its western side limits with Tor, Pallars municipal term, in the border with Spain. The Lauredian Union (, UL) is a political party in Andorra. Based in Sant Julià de Lòria, UL is localist and conservative. The party has formed coalitions in the General Council with the Democrats for Andorra and Liberals of Andorra, but did not field any candidates for the 2023 election. Andorra la Vella is the capital and largest city of Andorra. It is located high in the east Pyrenees, between France and Spain. Ordino
Ordino () is the most northerly parishes of Andorra, parish in the Principality of Andorra. It's mostly the main area of Valira del Nord or ''Valira d'Ordino'' river valley. Ordino is also the name of the main town of the parish. Other settlements in the parish are El Serrat, Ansalonga, Sornàs, La Cortinada, Llorts, Segudet, Arans, Les Salines and Arcalís (Andorra), Arcalís. It is home to the Sorteny National Park, the largest nature area of Andorra. It has a population of 4,858, as of 2017. Encamp () is one of the parishes of Andorra, located on the Valira d'Orient river. It is also the name of the main town in the parish. Other settlements include Vila, El Pas de la Casa, El Tremat, La Mosquera and Les Bons. As of 2004, it has about 11,800 inhabitants. The centre of the municipality lies above sea level. Canillo
Canillo () is one of the seven parishes which make up Andorra. Canillo is also the name of the main town of the parish. The parish is considered the religious center of Andorra with the Sanctuary and Chapel of Our Lady of Meritxell, patron saint of Andorra, and contains one of the best-preserved romanesque churches in the Pyrenees, Sant Joan de Caselles.
