Andorra Televisió () is an Andorran free-to-air television channel owned and operated by public broadcaster Ràdio i Televisió d'Andorra (RTVA). It is the company's flagship television channel, and is known for broadcasting mainstream and generalist programming, including ''l'Informatiu'' news bulletins, prime time drama, cinema and entertainment, and major breaking news, sports and special events. It was launched on 4 December 1995. History The first broadcasts of an experimental service began on 1 January 1991 under the name Televisió d'Andorra (TVA) through the frequency of Canal 33. In high-definition television (HDTV) and video display technology, 1080i is a video display format with 1080 lines of vertical resolution and Interlaced video, interlaced scanning method. Josep Dallerès Codina (born 14 February 1949) is an Andorran politician who served as General Syndic of the General Council from 1994 to 1997, and 2009 to 2011, as a member of the Social Democratic Party. Born in Vilafranca del Penedès, Spain, Dallerès was the son of two Andorran parents who moved back to Andorra. He became a teacher and his poetry was first published ' in 1967. He switched his writing language from French to Catalan after meeting Maria Aurèlia Capmany and Jaume Vidal Alcover. The 2005 Games of the Small States of Europe, or the XIth Games of the Small States of Europe, were held in Andorra la Vella, Andorra from May 30 to June 4, 2005. Andorra la Vella previously hosted the games in 1991. Administration of the games was done jointly by the Andorran government and the Andorran Olympic Committee. The Games of the Small States of Europe (GSSE) is a biennial multi-sport event, launched by the Republic of San Marino, organized by and featuring the National Olympic Committees of nine European small state, small states since 1985. The Eurovision Song Contest 2004 was the 49th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. Susanne Georgi Nielsen (born 27 July 1976), commonly known as Susanne Georgi, is a Danish singer who lives and works in Andorra. She represented the country in the Eurovision Song Contest 2009. Career Georgi started her career along with her sister in the duo Me & My; the group had a couple of hits around Europe. They also participated in the Danish pre-selection for Eurovision Song Contest 2007 together, in the end landing a 6th place in the national final.
