IFK Lidingö
IFK Lidingö is a Swedish sports club, part of the IFK system, based on the island of Lidingö outside Stockholm. Although the club takes part in numerous sports, it is most famous for its football, athletics and orienteering sections. The football team are called IFK Lidingö FK. The club was founded in 1932 and in 1985 it became an alliance club with independent sections. It currently has 400 members, most of them under around 15 years of age. Åsarna IK, founded in 1924, is a Sweden, Swedish sports club in Åsarna, Jämtland. The club has had many prominent competitors in cross-country skiing (sport), cross-country skiing, which is evident in the nickname of the village Åsarna, ''Guldbyn'' (Gold Village), which was coined after the 1988 Winter Olympics when three out of the four competitors in the men's relay competition came from the club. Vasaloppet
(Swedish language, Swedish for 'the Vasa race') is an annual long distance cross-country skiing (sport), cross-country ski race held on the first Sunday of March. The course starts in the village of :sv:Berga, Malung-Sälens kommun, Berga, just south of Sälen in western Dalarna, Sweden, and ends in the town of Mora, Sweden, Mora in the central part of the province. It is the oldest cross-country ski race in the world, as well as the one with the highest number of participants. Örjan Blomquist (23 August 1957 – 30 July 2000) was a Swedish cross-country skier, specialised at long-distance races during the 1980s. Competing for IFK Lidingö at club level, he shared the victory at Vasaloppet 1988 together with his brother Anders Blomquist.
