Andemtenga (sometimes spelt Amdemtenga, Andamtenga or Amdentenga) is the capital and largest settlement in Andemtenga Department, Kouritenga province, Burkina Faso. Andemtenga Department
Andemtenga is a department of Kouritenga Province in eastern Burkina Faso. Its capital lies at the town of Andemtenga. It had a total population of 49,207 in 2006. Its name is sometimes shortened to ''Andem'' in colloquial usage. In the 2012 parliamentary and municipal election, Innoncent Kontoumgomdé (also spelt Inoussa Oumdamde) of the Congress for Democracy and Progress (CDP) was elected Mayor of Andemtenga Department for a five-year term, beating rival candidate Antoudiouendé Jeans Yves Kaboré of the Union for the Republic (UPR) by claiming 47 of the 55 votes spread amongst the 27 villages of the department. This followed the death of mayor Nonguema Johanie Kaboré in June 2012. The ballot was held on 10 January 2013 in the courtyard of the town hall of Andemtenga, and Kontoumgomdé was invested on 6 February 2013. The provinces of Burkina Faso are divided into 351 departments (as of 2014 and since local elections of 2012), whose urbanized areas (cities, towns and villages) are grouped into the same commune (municipality) with the same name as the department. The department also covers rural areas (including national natural parks) that are not governed locally by the elected municipal council of the commune (presided by its mayor, with representants elected for each village or urban sector), but by the state represented at departmental level by a prefect (supervized by the haut-commissaire of its province, themself assisted by a general secretary and acting under the hierarchic authority the governor of its region, all of them being nominated by the national government). Floby (musician)
Florent Belemgnegré, better known by his stage name Floby, is an Ivorian- Burkinabé singer and musician. He sings in the French and Mòoré languages. His music uses African sounds such as the kora and djembe but also rap and electric guitar. He is also known by the nicknames ''le King Zodanga'', ''le Papa des Orphelins'' and ''le Kirikou d’Afrique''. Life and career Belemgnegré was born in the Bingerville suburb of Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire. At age five, he moved to Burkina Faso and lived with grandmother, who was a griot.
