Andalusia High School is a high school in Andalusia, Alabama, founded in 1899. The school colors are cardinal and white and the school mascot is the bulldog. History Andalusia High School was housed in the Church Street School from 1923 to 1941. In 2018, the school's football stadium and auditorium were renovated, costing $12 million. Demographics AHS is 63 percent white, 33 percent black, two percent Asian, and one percent of students identify as a part of two or more races. Andalusia, Alabama
Andalusia is a city in and the county seat of Covington County, Alabama, United States. At the 2020 census, the population was 8,805. History Andalusia was first settled in 1841 after flooding of the Conecuh River and the surrounding lowlands forced citizens to move to higher ground. The county seat was moved from Montezuma to Andalusia in 1844. Andalusia likely got its name from Spanish explorers or settlers since the land where the town is located was part of Spanish Florida until Pinckney's Treaty in 1795. Andalusia shares its name with the autonomous community of Andalusia in southern Spain. Walter Jackson Burkett (December 16, 1936 – September 1, 2017) was an American football linebacker in the National Football League (NFL) for the Baltimore Colts, New Orleans Saints, and Dallas Cowboys. He played college football at Auburn University. Early years Burkett began playing sports at Andalusia High School, where he was a three-sport athlete (football, basketball, and baseball). Ethan Wilson (born November 7, 1999) is an American professional baseball outfielder in the Philadelphia Phillies organization. He played college baseball for the South Alabama Jaguars. Mike Jones Jr. is an American politician from the state of Alabama. He served as a member of the Alabama House of Representatives for District 92. He is a part of the Republican Party. Career Jones began his career as an attorney with South Alabama Law in 1994 with a concentration in family law after graduating from the University of Alabama with a JD in 1992. Choctawhatchee High School is a high school in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. It is the only school in Okaloosa County to offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme.
