Cichlidogyrus Philander
''Cichlidogyrus philander'' is a species of Monopisthocotylean Monogenean, in the family Ancyrocephalidae. It is ectoparasitic on the gills of the fish '' Pseudocrenilabrus philander''. The species has been described by Laurence Douëllou in 1993 from fish collected in Lake Kariba, Zimbabwe. A complete and detailed redescription of the species, using scanning electron microscopy in addition to traditional microscopy, has been done by Igeh, Dos Santos & Avenant-Oldewage in 2017. These authors used specimens collected from the same fish species, from Padda Dam, Gauteng, South Africa. Genetic characters derived from the 28S rDNA, the COI mitochondrial DNA and ITS1 rDNA regions distinguish ''C. philander'' from all other ''Cichlidogyrus'' sequenced species. Morphology ''Cichlidogyrus philander'' is characterised by a penis with a sharp, curved, lateral termination, an accessory piece with a hook-like extremity that may appear forked terminally, and lack of a visible vagina. ... Aristocleidus
''Aristocleidus'' is a genus of monogeneans erected by Justus F. Mueller in 1936. The genus has been revised by Delane C. Kritsky and Edgar F. Mendoza–Franco in 2008. The amended generic diagnosis is: species with gonads overlapping, ventral anchors with deeply incised base forming deep and superficial roots, a coiled tube of the male copulatory organ (nonarticulated with the accessory piece) in a clockwise orientation, and haptoral hooks with upright acute thumb, slender shank comprising one subunit and FH loop. Two new species, parasitic in the Mexican mojarra ''Eugerres mexicanus'' (Perciformes, Gerreidae) from southwestern Mexico have been described by Edgar F. Mendoza-Franco, Marina Tapia Osorio and Juan Manuel Caspeta-Mandujano in 2015. Species *'' Aristocleidus hastatus'' Mueller, 1936 *'' Aristocleidus lamothei'' Kritsky ''Kritsky'' is a genus of digeneans in the family Aporocotylidae or blood flukes.WoRMS (2018). Cichlidogyrus
''Cichlidogyrus'' is a genus of monopisthocotylean monogeneans in the family Ancyrocephalidae. The type-species of the genus is '' Cichlidogyrus arthracanthus'' Paperna, 1960, by original designation. All the species of the genus are parasites on the gills of fish, namely African Cichlidae, Nandidae and Cyprinodontidae. Species of ''Cichlidogyrus'' are parasitic in many clichlid species in the Lake Tanganyika; a recent study (2016) has shown that species which are parasite on deep-water fish show reduced parasite-host specificity in comparison to species from littoral waters, probably an adaptation to low host availability. According to Antoine Pariselle and Louis Euzet, 71 species of ''Cichlidogyrus'' were known in 2009 - new species have been described since. Nikol Kmentová, Milan Gelnar, Stephan Koblmüller and Maarten P.M. Vanhove estimated that the number of species was more than 100 in 2016 and Chahrazed Rahmouni, Maarten P. M. Vanhove and Andrea Šimková l ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |
