Ana Elisa Villanueva
Ana Elisa Aurora Villanueva Callot (July 28, 1930 – April 5, 1998) was a Dominican politician and children's advocate. She served as First Lady of the Dominican Republic from July 4, 1982, to August 16, 1982, during the brief 43-day presidency of her husband, Jacobo Majluta. Villanueva was also the vice president of the Independent Revolutionary Party (PRI). Biography Villanueva was born on July 28, 1930, in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, to an elite family. Her parents were Fernando Villanueva Astol and Consuelo Callot Guridi. Through her mother, Villanueva was distantly related to Cuban poet Dulce María Loynaz. She was raised in Puerto Plata. Villanueva married Jacobo Majluta on April 17, 1962, in a Puerto Plata civil ceremony. The couple had one daughter. Joaquín Antonio Balaguer Ricardo (1 September 1906 – 14 July 2002) was a Dominican politician, scholar, writer, and lawyer who was the 41st, 45th and 49th president of the Dominican Republic serving three non-consecutive terms from 1960 to 1962, 1966 to 1978, and 1986 to 1996. He previously served as the 24th vice president under President Héctor Trujillo from 1957 to 1960. José Salvador Omar Jorge Blanco (5 July 1926 – 26 December 2010) was a Dominican politician, lawyer and writer who served as the 48th president of the Dominican Republic from 1982 to 1986. He was a Senator running for the PRD party. He started his political career as a Committee Secretary for the ''Unión Cívica de Santiago'' in 1963 and joined the PRD in 1964. Silvestre Antonio Guzmán Fernández (12 February 1911 – 4 July 1982), best known as Antonio Guzmán, was a Dominican businessman and a politician who served as the 46th president of the Dominican Republic from 1978 until his death in 1982. In 1978, Guzmán ran in the general elections against strongman Joaquín Balaguer, who at the time, ruled the country for 12 years and during that period, repressed, jailed and even killed political opponents.
