An International Marriage
''An International Marriage'' is a 1916 American silent comedy film directed by Frank Lloyd and written by George Broadhurst. The film stars Rita Jolivet, Marc Robbins, Elliott Dexter, Grace Carlyle, Olive White, and Courtenay Foote. The film was released on July 23, 1916, by Paramount Pictures. Plot The story revolves around a Florence Brent (Rita Jolivet) who is an American heiress who wishes to marry a Duke in Europe. The father of the duke wants her to have a title before marriage however, so she quickly marries the Duke's friend who is a Count with plans to quickly divorce him and retain the title. After the marriage though, she finds out that the Duke is already married. After all that, Florence's sweetheart arrives from America with a pistol and tells the Count he wants to marry her. Frank Lloyd
Frank William George Lloyd (2 February 1886 – 10 August 1960) was a Scottish-American film director, screenwriter, producer and actor. He was among the founders of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and was its president from 1934 to 1935. He is Scotland's first Academy Award winner and is unique in film history, having received three Oscar nominations in 1929 for his work on a silent film ('' The Divine Lady''), a part-talkie ('' Weary River'') and a full talkie ('' Drag''). He won for ''The Divine Lady''. He was nominated and won again in 1933 for his adaptation of Noël Coward's '' Cavalcade'' and received a further Best Director nomination in 1935 for perhaps his most successful film, ''Mutiny on the Bounty''. Page Peters (1889–1916) was an American silent film actor who appeared with Marguerite Clark, Blanche Sweet, Constance Collier, Anna Held and others in his short career. He may or may not have been a brother of House Peters as several sources reference them as brothers. The National Audio-Visual Conservation Center (NAVCC) is a branch of the Library of Congress devoted to preserving the United States' audio-visual history.
