AmpLive
Amp Live is an American alternative hip hop producer and disc jockey. He was one half of the duo Zion I, but left the group in 2015 amicably. He has remixed works by Radiohead, Tokyo Police Club and Jamie Lidell. Life and career Born and raised in Texas, Amp Live released ''Rainydayz Remixes'', an 8-track remix project of Radiohead's ''In Rainbows'', in 2008. He received a cease and desist letter from Warner/Chappell, informing him that ''Rainydayz Remixes'' "created musical arrangements/remixes" without proper approval. After building an internet movement, primarily through YouTube, Stereogum and Pitchfork Media, a settlement was reached and Amp Live was allowed to release the album for free. It was chosen by ''Wired'' as their "Best Free Download of the Week". Amp Live released the solo album, ''Murder at the Discotech'', in 2010. ''Gate 13'' is a 2018 collaborative album by American hip hop artists AmpLive and Del the Funky Homosapien. Reception Writing for ''Pitchfork Media'', Phillip Mlynar rated this release a 7.4 out of 10; explaining the collaborative nature of the release, he sums up that "Del may be the MC in this duo, but Amp Live’s production speaks just as loudly as the rhymes" and opining that "the album is full of inspired hip-hop production". Eligh
Eli Nathan Nachowitz (born February 28, 1978), better known as Eligh, is an American rapper and producer from Los Angeles. He is a member of the underground hip hop group Living Legends. Biography Eligh's inspiration for making hip hop music came in the mid 1980s from the film ''Beat Street'' and LL Cool J's "I'm Bad." In high school, he co-founded the hip hop duo Boogalu Badboys with Scarub. When they crossed paths with another rapper Murs, the three formed 3 Melancholy Gypsys (3MG). Eligh then moved from Los Angeles up north to the Bay Area, where he met The Grouch, which ultimately led to 3MG's incorporation into Living Legends. In the mid and late 1990s, while simultaneously continuing to produce with Living Legends, Eligh released several self-pressed solo albums, such as ''As They Pass'' and '' Gas Dream''. Zion I was an American Hip hop music, hip hop project founded by Rapping, MC and Record producer, producer Baba Zumbi (real name Stephen Gaines) in Oakland, California. Goapele Mohlabane ( ; born July 11, 1977) is an American soul and R&B singer-songwriter. Her name means ''to move forward'' in Setswana, a Southern African language. Early life Goapele's South African father Douglas Mohlabane was an exiled political activist who struggled against the Apartheid System. Goapele's New York-born Israeli Jewish mother Noa had been attending protests since the age of 12. Noa attended Friends World College and was studying in Nairobi, Kenya, where she met and married Douglas. Goapele and her older brother DJ Namane Mohlabane were raised in a South African exile community in California. Both of her parents inspired Goapele to become very involved in community affairs at a young age. She attended the Berkeley Arts Magnet School, where she led a pre-teen peer-support group.
