XTV
XTV is the NaSTA award-winning student television station at the University of Exeter. It is part of the Xmedia group of societies at the university and affiliated with the Students' Guild. Most of the station's content can be found on the YouTube channel. History There were plans for a student TV stations in 1990, involving, Guy Gadney and Thom Yorke. They proposed to set up "The Banana Network", but the idea got turned down by the Guild for unknown reasons, but funding played a part. When Guy Gudney returned from his year abroad, he did convince the Guild to set up a student TV station, and XTV was founded in 1992. In 2005, it started broadcasting online. Originally situated in Cornwall House on Streatham Campus, it moved back and forth to Devonshire House several times over its history and now shares the Media Suite with the university's student newspaper Exeposé. University Of Exeter
The University of Exeter is a research university in the West Country of England, with its main campus in Exeter, Devon. NaSTA
Student television in the United Kingdom is the act of students from universities and colleges around the United Kingdom producing and publishing video content independently, operating in a similar fashion to a small television station. Student television stations exist all around the United Kingdom. Content is not generally output across traditional media, as a broadcast licence may be prohibitively expensive to small non-profit organisations. Most student television stations use the Internet as a primary method of distributing content; either on a dedicated website, via their university's pages or on video sharing sites such as YouTube. Thom Yorke
Thomas Edward Yorke (born 7 October 1968) is an English musician who is the vocalist and main songwriter of the rock band Radiohead. He plays guitar, bass, keyboards and other instruments, and is noted for his falsetto. ''Rolling Stone'' described Yorke as one of the greatest and most influential singers of his generation. Emma Louise Boughton (born 27 November 1970), better known as Emma B, is a radio presenter in the UK. Early career Boughton's childhood was spent in Canada before she moved to Birmingham, England as a teenager. She graduated from the University of Exeter with a BA in English and Drama, staying on as a sabbatical officer organising all the live events and skiing competitively for the university.
