Amor Electro
Amor Electro are a Portuguese pop band formed in Lisbon in 2010. The first lineup of the group consisted of Marisa Liz (vocalist), Tiago Pais Dias (guitar and multi-instrumentalist), Ricardo Vasconcelos (keyboards), Rui Rechena (bass) and Mauro Ramos (drums). The band blends pop music and electronic music with Portuguese traditional music, using typical instruments like the accordion and Portuguese guitar. They also revisit themes from the 1980s and the 1990s Portuguese pop/rock, playing versions of songs by Sétima Legião, GNR, Ornatos Violeta and other bands, besides their own original songs. The band's first album, ''Cai o Carmo e a Trindade'', was released in May 2011, and reached the top of Portuguese sales charts soon after. The second album, ''Яevolução'', was released on 21 October 2013. The 2014 MTV EMAs (also known as the MTV Europe Music Awards) were held at The SSE Hydro, Glasgow, Scotland on 9 November 2014. This was the first time since 2003 when the awards were held in Scotland and the fifth time the United Kingdom has hosted the MTV EMA since the show was hosted in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Ornatos Violeta are a Portuguese rock band from Porto. The band, often referred to simply as Ornatos, consists of vocalist Manel Cruz, bassist Nuno Prata, guitarist Peixe and drummer Kinörm, with Elísio Donas at the keyboard. Their main period of activity was between 1991 and 2002. Since then, the band as reunited twice: in 2012 and in 2018. The Portuguese guitar or Portuguese guitarra ( pt, guitarra portuguesa, ) is a plucked string instrument with twelve steel strings, strung in six courses of two strings. It is one of the few musical instruments that still uses watch-key or Preston tuners. It is iconically associated with the musical genre known as Fado, and is now an icon for anything Portuguese.
