Luis Alberto Ammann
Luis Alberto Ammann (17 November 1942 – 6 November 2020) was an Argentine politician of the Humanist Party as well as journalist, schoolteacher and writer. Amman was born in Villa Dolores, Córdoba Province. He ran for President of Argentina during the 2007 Argentine general election, obtaining 0.41% of the votes. Amman obtained a degree in linguistics from the National University of Córdoba and a degree in philology from the University of La Laguna in Tenerife, Spain. As journalist, he was an editor of '' La Voz del Interior'' before entering politics. He founded the Humanist Party in 1984 and later affiliated, in 1987, with the Communist Party and the Green party. Robert Ammann (October 1, 1946 – May, 1994) was an List of amateur mathematicians, amateur mathematician who made several significant and groundbreaking contributions to the theory of quasicrystals and aperiodic tilings. Ammann attended Brandeis University, but generally did not go to classes, and left after three years. He worked as a programmer for Honeywell. After twelve years, his position was eliminated as part of a routine cutback, and Ammann ended up working as a mail sorter for a post office. In 1975, Ammann read an announcement by Martin Gardner of new work by Roger Penrose. Penrose had discovered two simple sets of aperiodic tiles, each consisting of just two quadrilaterals. Since Penrose was taking out a patent, he wasn't ready to publish them, and Gardner's description was rather vague. Othmar Hermann Ammann (March 26, 1879 – September 22, 1965) was a Swiss-American civil engineer whose bridge designs include the George Washington Bridge, Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge, and Bayonne Bridge. He also directed the planning and construction of the Lincoln Tunnel. Biography Othmar Ammann was born near Schaffhausen, Switzerland, in 1879.
