The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) is a central armed police force in India under the Ministry of Home Affairs. The CRPF assists states and Union Territories in maintaining law and order and internal security. The Shaurya Chakra () is an Indian military decoration awarded for valour, courageous action or self-sacrifice while not engaged in direct action with the enemy. The CRPF Valley Quick Action Team is a Police Tactical Unit, tactical unit of the Central Reserve Police Force, specialized in counter-terrorism in urban areas. It is active in the city of Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir (union territory), Jammu and Kashmir. It was raised specifically to counter and eliminate militants in the city of Srinagar.
