Amirah Lidasan
Amirah Ali "Mek" Lidasan (born September 23, 1974) is a Filipina and Moro people, Moro activist who is the co-chairperson of the Sandugo-Movement of Moro and Indigenous Peoples for Self-Determination. In the 2025 Philippine Senate election, she is running under Makabayan. Early life The Lidasan clan came from the Iranun language, Iranon tribe of Matanog and Parang, Maguindanao del Norte, Parang, Maguindanao. Because of the conflicts in Maguindanao, their family moved to Manila. Activism She was first exposed to student activism during her studies at the University of the Philippines Diliman as she was taking BA Journalism. 2025 Philippine General Election
The 2025 Philippine general election was held on May 12, 2025. During this midterm election, where the winners take office mid-way through the Presidency of Bongbong Marcos, term of President Bongbong Marcos, all 317 seats in the House of Representatives of the Philippines, House of Representatives and 12 of the 24 seats in the Senate of the Philippines, Senate were contested to form the 20th Congress of the Philippines. EDSA II Revolution
The Second EDSA Revolution (), also known as the Second People Power Revolution, EDSA 2001, or EDSA II (pronounced ''EDSA Two'' or ''EDSA Dos'', the Spanish word for "two"), was a political protest from January 17–20, 2001 which peacefully overthrew the government of Joseph Estrada, the thirteenth president of the Philippines. Following allegations of corruption against Estrada and his subsequent investigation by Congress, impeachment proceedings against the president were opened on January 16. The Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF; ) is an Islamist group based in Mindanao, Philippines, which sought an autonomous region of the Moro people from the central government. The group has a presence in the Bangsamoro region of Mindanao, the Sulu Archipelago, Palawan, Basilan, and other neighbouring islands.
