Amina Abbas
Amina Abbas (; née Al-Fanous; born 1942) is a Palestinian public figure who, as the wife of President Mahmoud Abbas, is the current first lady of Palestine. Public life Abbas is the First Lady of Palestine. She has served as Palestine's first lady since her husband was elected president in 2005. She represented the State of Palestine at the second conference of the Arab Women Organization, a Jordanian women's rights organization, held in the United Arab Emirates in 2008. On 28 February 2012, Abbas co-sponsored a charitable donation campaign, along with Turkish First Lady Emine Erdoğan, for victims of an earthquake in Van, Turkey. Personal life She married Mahmoud Abbas in 1958. They have three sons. Her eldest son, Mazen Abbas, who ran a building company in Doha, died in Qatar of a heart attack in 2002. Ramat HaHayal (, ''lit.'' Soldier's Hill) is a northeastern neighborhood of Tel Aviv, Israel. Some high tech firms have research and development offices in Ramat HaHayal. History The neighborhood was established in 1949 to absorb demobilized soldiers after the 1948 Arab–Israeli War. In 1954, Tel Aviv municipality donated a plot of land on Golan Street in Ramat HaHayal, dubbed "Shikun Shanghai", to members of the Jewish community from Shanghai, China, who left during the final stages of the Chinese Civil War. Seeds of Peace is a peacebuilding and leadership development non-profit organization headquartered in New York City. It was founded in 1993. As its main program, the organization brings youth and educators from areas of conflict to its summer camp. It also provides local programming to support Seeds of Peace graduates, known as Seeds, once they return home. It is a non-political organization that teaches youth peace-making skills.
