AmiPro
Lotus Word Pro is a word processor produced by IBM's Lotus Software group for use on Microsoft Windows-compatible computers and on IBM OS/2 Warp. Word Pro was available as part of the Lotus SmartSuite office suite. Word Pro was based upon Ami Pro (originally published by Samna), but was substantially rewritten (including a new native document format). The predecessor to Ami Pro, Amí, was released in 1988, and was the first fully functional Windows word processor (with the Windows version of Microsoft Word debuting in early 1989) Shortly after the release of Amí, the development team added support for tables and renamed the product Ami Pro. Lotus obtained Ami Pro to round out their office suite by acquiring Samna in 1990. Lotus continued to develop Ami Pro further with version 3 released in 1992. Lotus Software (called Lotus Development Corporation before its acquisition by IBM) was an American software company based in Massachusetts; it was sold to India's HCL Technologies in 2018. IBM Lotus SmartSuite
SmartSuite is a discontinued office suite from Lotus Software. The company made versions of its office suite for IBM OS/2 and Microsoft Windows. Status SmartSuite is no longer supported or maintained. SmartSuite used to be in maintenance mode, and supported with fixes and fixpacks on Windows 2000 and Windows XP. SmartSuite is not officially supported by IBM on versions of Windows after XP, but it does work very well on both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8.1, Windows 10 and Windows 11. eComStation 1.0 included the OS/2 version of Smartsuite. Joe Guthridge is best known for his contributions to the development of a family of word processing software that began in the 1980s. Software from that original work is still being used as of 201x. Guthridge gained recognition for his work in an important standardization area. Recognition Guthridge was presented with Microsoft's Windows Pioneer Award in 1994.
