Amhara People
Amharas (; ) are a Ethiopian Semitic languages, Semitic-speaking ethnic group indigenous to Ethiopia in the Horn of Africa, traditionally inhabiting parts of the northwest Ethiopian Highlands, Highlands of Ethiopia, particularly the Amhara Region. According to the 2007 national census, Amharas numbered 19,867,817 individuals, comprising 26.9% of Ethiopia's population, and they are mostly Oriental Orthodox Churches, Oriental Orthodox Christian (members of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church). Bete Amhara (Amharic: ቤተ አማራ, Ge'ez: ቤተ ዐምሐራ, translation: "House of Amhara") was a historical region located in north-central Ethiopia, covering most of the later Wollo Province, along with significant parts of North Shewa. Amharic
Amharic is an Ethio-Semitic language, which is a subgrouping within the Semitic branch of the Afroasiatic languages. It is spoken as a first language by the Amhara people, and also serves as a lingua franca for all other metropolitan populations in Ethiopia. The language serves as the official working language of the Ethiopian federal government, and is also the official or working language of several of Ethiopia's federal regions. In 2020 in Ethiopia, it had over 33.7 million mother-tongue speakers of which 31 million are ethnically Amhara, and more than 25.1 million second language speakers in 2019, making the total number of speakers over 58.8 million. Amhara Province
Amhara Province (Amharic: አማራ) also known as the "Amhara country" and originally as Bete Amhara (Amharic: ቤተ ዐምሐራ,, "House of Amhara") was the name of a medieval province of the Ethiopian Empire, located in present-day Debub Wollo and parts of Semien Shewa. It was named after the Amhara people, who originated from the province. Following the Italian invasion of Ethiopia in 1936, " Amara" was used to designate the subdivision of Italian East Africa with its administrative center at Gondar, and during the 1990s the Amhara region would be formed with its capitol in Bahir Dar. The people of this region mainly practice Orthodox Christianity and the region, in its many forms, has historically been considered the heartland of Ethiopia. Italian East Africa
Italian East Africa (, A.O.I.) was a short-lived colonial possession of Fascist Italy from 1936 to 1941 in the Horn of Africa. It was established following the Second Italo-Ethiopian War, which led to the military occupation of the Ethiopian Empire (Abyssinia). It encompassed Italian Somaliland, Italian Eritrea and the acquired Ethiopian territories, all governed by a single administrative unit, the Governo Generale dell'Africa Orientale Italiana. Its establishment contributed to the outbreak of the Second World War by exposing the weaknesses of the League of Nations. Italian East Africa was divided into six governorates. Amhara is a town and a Gram Panchayat in Bihta block of Patna district in the state of Bihar, India. Amhara lies in east of the Sone river and south of Bihta. The village is well connected to major cities with state highways. Languages Local language is Magahi, which has the lexical similarity of 71-83% with Hindi (compared to 60% for German and English) and is spoken by about 7,800,000 people in Bihar. Education The education infrastructure in the village, albeit, having seen some improvement in the last few years, is still not up to the mark.
