Gregorio Ameztoy Querejeta (15 May 1916 - 24 October 1972) was a Filipino professional footballer who played as a midfielder for Gimnàstic de Tarragona in Spain. Early life Ameztoy was born in 1916 in La Carlota, Philippines, to Basque Spanish parents from Zestoa, Spain. Ameztoy attended the Colegio Nuestra Señora del Buen Consejo en Lecároz. Career Ameztoy debuted for Spanish side Zaragoza at the age of seventeen. He became the first Filipino footballer to play in the Spanish La Liga. La Carlota, Negros Occidental
La Carlota, officially the City of La Carlota, (; ; ), is a component city in the province of Negros Occidental, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 66,664 people. making it the least populous city in the province. History Throughout much of its early history, agriculture was the main source of livelihood for the native settlers of Simancas. The original inhabitants grew rice for their own consumption and latter ones cultivated tobacco for export during the Spanish colonial era.
