American Professional Basketball League
The American Professional Basketball League (APBL) was a semi-professional men's basketball league that began play in 2010. Originally known as the Atlantic Coast Professional Basketball League (ACPBL), the league changed its name before the 2012–13 season. The league ceased operations after the 2019 season. Teams were located up and down the Atlantic Coast from New York to Northern Virginia. History Formed in 2010 as the ACPBL, the league initially was made up of two teams (Buffalo Stampede, Washington GreenHawks) formerly of the Premier Basketball League, three teams (Beltway Bombers, Garden State Rebels, Tru Hope Trailblazers) formerly of the Eastern Basketball Alliance, and three expansion teams (Hudson Valley Kingz, New York Lions, Westchester Wildkatz). Smush Parker
William Henry "Smush" Parker III (born June 1, 1981) is an American former professional basketball player. He played in the National Basketball Association (NBA), the NBA G-League and several leagues overseas. Parker played shooting guard in college but moved to point guard in the NBA. Early years Parker was born in Brooklyn to parents William "Bill" Henry Parker II and Robin Royal Parker. He attended Newtown High School in Elmhurst, Queens, where he was a star guard on their varsity basketball team. Lonny Baxter
Lonny Leroy Baxter (born January 27, 1979) is an American former professional basketball player. He is in height, and played the power forward and center positions. College career While attending the University of Maryland, College Park, Baxter won the 2002 NCAA championship along with teammates and future NBA players Juan Dixon, Steve Blake and Chris Wilcox by defeating Indiana. He was named a regional MVP of the NCAA Tournament twice, in 2001 and 2002. Professional career NBA Baxter was selected by the Chicago Bulls with the 15th pick of the second round (44th overall) of the 2002 NBA draft. Tri-City Suns
The Tri-City Suns were a basketball team which played in the American Basketball Association (ABA) in the 2009–10 season and the Atlantic Coast Professional Basketball League (ACPBL) in 2011. Home games were played on the campus of Progressive Christian Academy in Temple Hills, Maryland. The Suns were the only basketball team playing in Prince George's County. The Maryland Nighthawks played the 2004–05 season at The Show Place Arena in Upper Marlboro, but, prompted by poor attendance, moved to Rockville in Montgomery County the following season.
