The aircraft is a high-wing, tandem seat monoplane with conventional landing gear. The fuselage is constructed with welded steel tubing with doped Superflite aircraft fabric. In April 2015 the Super Legend design was further developed with the addition of a greater number of carbon fibre components, including doors, floorboards, the propeller spinner and the wingtip bows. Avionic upgrades include Garmin G3X avionics and a FreeFlight Systems 1201 WAAS GPS sensor, Trig Mode S and 1090ES ADS-B Out transponder. Piper PA-11 Cub Special
The Piper PA-11 Cub Special is a later-production variant of the Piper J-3, J-3 Cub manufactured by Piper Aircraft. Design and development The PA-11 is a high-wing braced cabin monoplane with a conventional landing gear, tail-wheel landing gear. The enclosed cabin has two tandem seats. Early PA-11s had a Continental O-170, Continental A65-8 engine, while the later ones had the option of a Continental O-200, Continental C90-8. The PA-11 was based on the earlier J-3, but with the engine cowling fully enclosed (as on the earlier Piper J-5, J-5), the windshield sloped at a shallower angle, and the fuel tank placed in the port wing root.Peperell 1987, p. 55. The Piper J-3 Cub is an American light aircraft that was built between 1938 and 1947 by Piper Aircraft. The aircraft has a simple, lightweight design which gives it good low-speed handling properties and short-field performance. The Cub is Piper Aircraft's second most-produced model after the PA-28 Cherokee series (>32,000 produced) with over 20,000 built in the United States. Piper PA-18 Super Cub
The Piper PA-18 Super Cub is a two-seat, single-engine monoplane. Introduced in 1949 by Piper Aircraft, it was developed from the PA-11 Cub Special, and traces its lineage back through the J-3 Cub to the Taylor E-2 Cub of the 1930s. In close to 40 years of production, over 10,000 were built. Super Cubs are commonly found in roles such as bush flying, banner towing and glider towing. Design and development While based on the design of the earlier Cubs, the addition of an electrical system, flaps (3 notches), and a considerably more powerful engine (150 hp), made it a very different flying experience.
