American Ditchley Foundation
The Ditchley Foundation is a foundation that holds conferences, with a primary focus on British-American relations. Based at Ditchley Park near Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire, it was established as a privately funded charity in 1958 by philanthropist Sir David Wills. Its current Director is James Arroyo. John Wheeler-Bennett
Sir John Wheeler Wheeler-Bennett (13 October 1902 – 9 December 1975) was a conservative English historian of German and diplomatic history, and the official biographer of George VI, King George VI. He was well known in his lifetime, and his interpretation of the role of the German Army influenced a number of British historians. Early life Wheeler-Bennett was born in Kent, the son of the prosperous importer John Wheeler-Bennett (businessman), John Wheeler-Bennett and his Canadian-born wife, Christine ( McNutt). He was educated at Wellington House school in Westgate-on-Sea near Margate in Kent, and then at Malvern College, and did not regard his youth as a happy one. Dominic Grieve
Dominic Charles Roberts Grieve (born 24 May 1956) is a British barrister and former politician who served as Shadow Home Secretary from 2008 to 2009 and Attorney General for England and Wales from 2010 to 2014. He served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Beaconsfield from 1997 to 2019 and was the Chair of the Intelligence and Security Committee from 2015 to 2019. Grieve attended the Cabinet as Attorney General for England and Wales and Advocate General for Northern Ireland from May 2010 to July 2014. The Centre for European Reform (CER) is a London-based think tank that focuses on matters of European integration. Janice Charette is a Canadian public servant and diplomat who served as clerk of the Privy Council and secretary to the Cabinet from 2014 to 2016 and again from 2021 to 2023. Charles Harold Stuart Low, 2nd Baron Aldington (born 22 June 1948), is a British peer, the son of Toby Low, 1st Baron Aldington. He succeeded to the Barony on 7 December 2000. James Arroyo OBE (born 25 March 1967) has served as the Director of the Ditchley Foundation since September 2016. Education Arroyo attended Loughborough Grammar School in Leicestershire, United Kingdom, and obtained a BA in English from the University of Cambridge ( Jesus College). Career Prior to joining the Ditchley Foundation, Arroyo served as a diplomat, national security official and civil servant. From 2012 to 2016, he was Director for Data at the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO). John Holmes (British Diplomat)
Sir John Eaton Holmes (born 29 April 1951) is a British former diplomat who is the current Chairman of the Electoral Commission. Early life Holmes was born on 29 April 1951 in Preston, in the north of England. He was educated at Preston Grammar School and went on to study Greats at Balliol College, Oxford. He was brought up in Penwortham, a middle-class suburb of Preston, where he went to school at Crookings Lane Primary and was in the same class as Howard Mendel, a Natural History Museum entomologist. Holmes played cricket for Lancashire schoolboys and was also a tennis player. He was a member of Penwortham Congregational Tennis Club where he won the junior singles as a teenager. Sir Jeremy Quentin Greenstock (born 27 July 1943) is a British retired diplomat, active from 1969 to 2004. Life and career Greenstock was educated at Harrow School and at Worcester College, Oxford. He was an assistant master at Eton College from 1966 to 1969. Greenstock joined the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in 1969 and served until 2004. He served in the British embassies in Washington, D.C., Paris, Dubai and Saudi Arabia. Nigel Broomfield
Sir Nigel Hugh Robert Allen Broomfield (19 March 1937 – 29 October 2018) was a British diplomat. Career Broomfield was born in Nowshera, North West Frontier Province and educated at Haileybury College and Trinity College, Cambridge. He joined the British Army and was commissioned in the 17th/21st Lancers in 1959, retiring with the rank of Major in 1968. He joined the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) in 1969 and served in the British embassies in Bonn and Moscow, and with the British Military Government in Berlin, as well as senior posts at the FCO.
