Amelia Bonow
Amelia Bonow (born November 3, 1984) is an American Abortion-rights movements, abortion rights activist, and co-creator of the social media campaign ShoutYourAbortion, #ShoutYourAbortion, along with fellow activists Lindy West and Kimberly Morrison. She is the Founding Director of #ShoutYourAbortion. Bonow's writing has appeared in The New Republic, HuffPost, The Huffington Post, New York Daily News, The New York Daily News, and Salon.com, Salon, among others. Early life and education Bonow was born in Gig Harbor, Washington, Gig Harbor, WA in 1984. She graduated with a BA in Cultural anthropology, Cultural Anthropology from Seattle University in 2011. Abortion-rights Movements
Abortion-rights movements, also referred to as pro-choice movements, advocate for the right to have legal access to induced abortion services including elective abortion. They seek to represent and support women who wish to terminate their pregnancy without fear of legal or social backlash. These movements are in direct opposition to anti-abortion movements. The issue of induced abortion remains divisive in public life, with recurring arguments to liberalize or to restrict access to legal abortion services. Mifepristone
Mifepristone, also known as RU-486, is a medication typically used in combination with misoprostol to bring about a medical abortion during pregnancy and manage early miscarriage. This combination is 97% effective during the first 63 days of pregnancy. It is also effective in the second trimester of pregnancy. Effectiveness should be verified two weeks after use. It is taken by mouth. Common side effects include abdominal pain, feeling tired, and vaginal bleeding. Serious side effects may include heavy vaginal bleeding, bacterial infection, and birth defects if the pregnancy does not end. If used, appropriate follow up care needs to be available.
