''The Amazing Race 8'' (also known as ''The Amazing Race: Family Edition'') is the eighth season of the American reality competition show ''The Amazing Race''. Hosted by Phil Keoghan, this season of the series, which normally features pairs of adults with a pre-existing relationship, featured ten families of four, including the participation of minors as young as eight years old, competing in a race across North America to win US$1,000,000. This season visited twelve states, one federal district, and three additional countries and traveled over during eleven legs. Starting in New York City, racers traveled through New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, the District of Columbia, Virginia, South Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Panama, Costa Rica, Arizona, Utah, Wyoming, Montana, and Canada before finishing in Lewiston, New York. Philip John Keoghan ( ; born 31 May 1967) is a New Zealand television personality, best known for hosting the The Amazing Race (American TV series), American version of ''The Amazing Race'' on CBS, since its 2001 debut. He is the creator and host of ''No Opportunity Wasted'', which has been produced in the United States, New Zealand, and Canada. Keoghan also co-created and hosts the American reality competition programme ''Tough as Nails,'' which debuted on CBS on 8 July 2020. As of 2021, he has been involved with winning 10 Primetime Emmy Awards related to his work on ''The Amazing Race'', where the show consecutively won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Reality-Competition Program, Outstanding Reality-Competition Program seven times.
