Amarapedia
Amarapedia is a collaborative project linking the quarter of Amara in Donostia-San Sebastián and the on-line encyclopaedia Wikipedia, which is focused on the facilities of local information system, covering subjects such as places, buildings, facilities, and streets. Amarapedia is inspired by the Welsh experience of Monmouthpedia and it was a pilot project for future larger-scale projects that took place in the city of Donostia-San Sebastián in 2016, when the city was the European Capital of Culture. Inception The idea of Amarapedia was conceived by active cultural members and Wikipedians of San Sebastián. The initial goal is to encourage the citizens' involvement in an inclusive way through articles about the quarter of Amara and its neighborhood. This is a continuation of the work done with associations of the neighbourhood within ''Amarauna'' project (this word means "net" in the Basque language), and is one of the starting points of the citywide Donostiapedia project. QRpedia
QRpedia is a mobile Web-based system which uses QR codes to deliver Wikipedia articles to users, in their preferred language. A typical use is on museum labels, linking to Wikipedia articles about the exhibited object. QR codes can easily be generated to link directly to any Uniform Resource Identifier (URI), but the QRpedia system adds further functionality. It is owned and operated by a subsidiary of Wikimedia UK (WMUK). QRpedia was conceived by Roger Bamkin, a Wikipedia volunteer, coded by Terence Eden, and unveiled in April 2011. It is in use at museums and other institutions in countries including Australia, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Malaysia, North Macedonia, Spain, India, the United Kingdom, Germany, South Africa, Sweden, Ukraine and the United States. Vocento, S.A., also known as Grupo Vocento, is a Spanish mass media group. Its flagship daily newspaper is the conservative and monarchist ''ABC'', also publishing '' El Correo''. Vocento was created in 2001 upon the merger of Grupo Correo with , the publisher of ''ABC''. El Diario Vasco
''El Diario Vasco'' ( English: ''The Basque Daily'') is a Spanish morning daily newspaper based in San Sebastián, Basque Country. History and profile ''El Diario Vasco'' was founded in 1934 by the Sociedad Vascongada de Publicaciones, led by conservative writers such as Juan Ignacio Luca de Tena or Ramiro de Maeztu. The paper has its headquarters in San Sebastián. Following the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War in 1936, ''El Diario Vasco'' supported the Nationalist faction and was closed by the Republican government for two months until San Sebastián was conquered by the Nationalists. In 1945 the paper was bought by the Falange-controlled holders of '' El Correo Español'', which then changed its name from El Pueblo Vasco SA to Bilbao Editorial SA. Oviedo
Oviedo () or Uviéu (Asturian language, Asturian: ) is the capital city of the Principality of Asturias in northern Spain and the administrative and commercial centre of the region. Princess Of Asturias Awards
The Princess of Asturias Awards (, ), formerly the Prince of Asturias Awards from 1981 to 2014 (), are a series of annual prizes awarded in Spain by the Princess of Asturias Foundation (previously the Prince of Asturias Foundation) to individuals, entities or organizations from around the world who make notable achievements in the sciences, humanities, and public affairs. The awards are presented every October in a solemn ceremony at in Oviedo, the capital of the Asturias, Principality of Asturias, and are presented by the Princess of Asturias. Each recipient present at the ceremony receives a diploma, a sculpture expressly created for the awards by Spanish sculptor Joan Miró and a Award pin, pin with the emblem of the Foundation.
