Chiranjivi
The Chiranjivi (; ) are a group of immortals who are believed to remain alive on Earth until the end of the current age known as the Kali Yuga, according to Hindu literature. Etymology and scriptural context The term is a combination of ''chiram'', or 'permanent', and ''jīvi'', or 'lived'. It is similar to ''amaratva'', which refers to true immortality. At the end of the last manvantara (age of Manu), an asura named Hayagriva attempted to become immortal by swallowing the sacred pages of the ''Vedas'', as they escaped from the mouth of Brahma. The scripture was retrieved by the first avatar of Vishnu (Matsya). Other incarnations of Vishnu (Narasimha and Rama) also later fought and killed Hiranyakashipu and Ravana, both of whom tried to become immortal through obeisance to Brahma and Shiva, respectively. Amaran (band)
Amaran was a Swedish metal band. Their music can be described to have heavy metal guitars combined with the clear voice of singer Johanna DePierre. History Formation The band was named after a Hindi term for "undying" or "everlasting". Amaran started out as a band in the spring of 2000, in Stockholm, Sweden, and then developed a dynamic and original way of writing songs, combining heavy metal guitars with clear female vocals. Guitarists Kari Kainulainen and Ronnie Backlund started writing some music together and decided to form a band. They found the rest of the band members in bass player Mikael Andersson, vocalist Johanna DePierre and drummer Robin Bergh. All of the members came from different musical backgrounds and were eager to produce music together. ''Amaran'' () is a 1992 Indian Tamil-language action gangster film written, directed, and produced by K. Rajeshwar. The film stars Karthik and Bhanupriya, with Radha Ravi, Prathap K. Pothan, and Shammi Kapoor in supporting roles. The film had music by Adithyan and cinematography by P. C. Sreeram. It was released theatrically on 15 January 1992. Plot An orphaned child helps Govindan escape from a bunch of gangsters. The child is named Amaran by the grateful Govindan and is brought up by him. ''Amaran'' () is a 2024 Indian Tamil-language biographical action war film written and directed by Rajkumar Periasamy and produced by Raaj Kamal Films International, together with Sony Pictures Films India. The film stars Sivakarthikeyan as Major Mukund Varadarajan, alongside Sai Pallavi as his wife Indhu Rebecca Varghese. It is an adaptation of the book series ''India's Most Fearless: True Stories of Modern Military Heroes'' by Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh, which contains a segment based on Mukund. ''Amaran (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)'' is the soundtrack album composed by G. V. Prakash Kumar for the 2024 Tamil-language film of the same name, directed by Rajkumar Periasamy starring Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi as Major Mukund Varadarajan and Indhu Rebecca Varghese. The film is a joint production venture of Raaj Kamal Films International and Sony Pictures Films India. The soundtrack featured eight songs with lyrics written by Karthik Netha, Yugabharathi, Vivek and Arivu. It was preceded by five singles, and the album was released under the Saregama label on 2 November 2024. Development ''Amaran'' is Prakash's maiden collaboration with both Sivakarthikeyan and Rajkumar. Initially Harris Jayaraj was considered to compose the musical score, before Prakash being chosen. Gangai Amaran (born Amar Singh) is an Indian composer, playback singer, lyricist, actor, film director and a screenwriter in Tamil films. Personal life Gangai Amaran was born in Pannaipuram in Theni district, Tamil Nadu in December 1947, as the youngest son of Ramaswamy and Chinnathayi.
