Amanda Villanueva
Amanda Maria Villanueva (born ) is a Filipino volleyball athlete. She played for the Adamson Lady Falcons in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines before turning pro in the Premier Volleyball League and Philippine Superliga. She is also a model and marketing executive. Career An opposite hitter, Villanueva played high school volleyball at St. James Academy in Malabon and represented the National Capital Region at Palarong Pambansa. In college, she initially played for the DLSU Lady Spikers and later played four years for the Adamson Lady Falcons. She had two UAAP Final Four appearances in indoor volleyball and won a beach volley crown for Adamson University while teaming up with Bang Pineda and Jema Galanza in 2013. She briefly played for the PLDT Home Ultera Ultra Fast Hitters in the Shakey's V-League in 2015. They would later meet at the pro ranks in separate teams. The Palarong Pambansa ( Filipino for "National Games") is an annual multi-sport event involving student-athletes from the different regions of the Philippines. The event which was known as the BPISAA Games from its inception in 1948 until 1973, is organized and governed by the Department of Education. Student-athletes from public and private schools at elementary and secondary levels can compete, provided they qualified by winning at their regional meet. The Philippine Super Liga (PSL; alternatively spelled as Philippine Superliga) was a non-professional corporate club women's volleyball league in the Philippines. It was first organized by SportsCore Event Management and Consultancy, Inc. and later owned by Athletic Events & Sports Management Group (ACES), Inc. The league was envisioned to provide former collegiate players a league with which they can continue with their volleyball career.
