Amanda Ammar
Amanda Ammar (born 6 February 1986) is a Canadians, Canadian cross-country skiing (sport), cross-country skier. Ammar made her FIS Cross-Country World Cup, World Cup debut in 2005. Her best finish to date came in that year, when she teamed with Perianne Jones to finish 17th in the team sprint in Canmore, Alberta, Canmore. Her top individual performance came at the same event, a 27th place in the women's 15 km mass start. Ammar competed in three events at the 2006 Winter Olympics, 2006 Olympics in Turin. She finished 49th in the qualifying portion of the Cross-country skiing at the 2006 Winter Olympics – Women's sprint, sprint, failing to advance to the quarterfinals, and also was a part of the Canadian Cross-country skiing at the 2006 Winter Olympics – Women's 4 × 5 kilometre relay, relay team that finished 10th. The 2007–08 FIS Cross-Country World Cup was a multi-race tournament over the season for cross-country skiers. It was the 27th official FIS Cross-Country World Cup, World Cup season in cross-country skiing (sport), cross-country skiing for men and women. The season began on 27 October 2007 with 800m sprint races for women in Düsseldorf, won by Natalia Matveeva of Russia, who took her first World Cup victory. The season concluded with 2007–08 FIS Cross-Country World Cup Finals, World Cup Finals, a mini-tour held in Bormio, Italy. Finnish skier Virpi Kuitunen won the overall women's cup for the 2nd consecutive season and Lukáš Bauer of Czech Republic won the overall men's cup. The season began on 28 October 2006 with 800m sprint races for women in Düsseldorf which was eventually won by Marit Bjørgen of Norway. This season, Tour de Ski was a part of the World Cup for the first time. The World Cup is organised by the FIS who also run world cups and championships in ski jumping, snowboarding and alpine skiing amongst others. The women's 4 × 5 kilometre relay cross-country skiing competition at the 2014 Sochi Olympics took place on 15 February at Laura Biathlon & Ski Complex. Sweden won the event. This became the first gold medal in the women's relay for Sweden since the 1960 Winter Olympics. Finland won the silver medals, and Germany finished third. Gold medals won in this event featured a fragment from the Chelyabinsk meteor, to commemorate the first anniversary of the meteor strike. Results The race was started at 14:00. In November 2017, Yuliya Ivanova was disqualified from the event meaning that the whole Russian team was also disqualified. In September 2018, Marina Piller was disqualified for doping, and all her 2014 Olympic results were annulled, including the result of the Italian relay team.
