Amaidhipadai
''Amaidhipadai'' () is a 1994 Indian Tamil-language political satire film, written and directed by Manivannan. The film stars Sathyaraj (in a dual role), Ranjitha, Kasthuri and Sujatha. It revolves around a politician who builds his career through unethical means, while his son, an honest law enforcer, seeks to take him down. ''Amaidhipadai'' was released on 13 January 1994. It went on to run more than 25 weeks and was a silver jubilee hit. The film has since developed a strong cult following. It was remade in Telugu as ''M. Dharmaraju M.A.'' (1994), and in Hindi as ''Jallaad'' (1995). A spiritual successor, ''Nagaraja Cholan MA, MLA'' was released in 2013, with Sathyaraj returning. ''Nagaraja Cholan MA, MLA'' is a 2013 Tamil-language political satire film directed by Manivannan. A sequel to '' Amaidhi Padai'' (1994), it stars Sathyaraj in his 200th film, reprising his role as Nagaraja Cholan from the original, alongside an ensemble cast including Seeman, Manivannan, his son Raghuvannan, Mrudula Murali, Komal Sharma and Varsha Ashwathi. The film, featuring music composed by James Vasanthan, was produced by Ravichandran and K. Suresh under the banner of V House Production and shot in Coimbatore and surrounding areas in one single schedule. Unlike the original, ''Nagaraja Cholan MA, MLA'' opened to mixed reviews. S. Manivannan Rajagopal (31 July 1953 – 15 June 2013), better known by his mononym Manivannan, was an Indian film director, actor and activist who worked mainly in Tamil cinema and also worked in a few Telugu & Malayalam films. In a career spanning three decades, he went from being a story and dialogue writer for director Bharathiraja from 1980–82 to a successful director who thrived in experimenting with different genres, before becoming an actor. With over 400 films to his name, Manivannan was one of the most experienced actors in the field and directed exactly 50 films. Manivannan was mainly a supporting actor in films and often played the comedian, supporting character and villainous roles. Thyagu (born 5 February 1958) is an Indian actor and comedian who appears in Tamil films. He is the grandson of violinist Kumbakonam Rajamanickam Pillai. Vasudevan (15 June 1944 – 20 February 2011), known as Malaysia Vasudevan, was a Malaysian-Indian playback singer and actor in Tamil cinema. Early life Malaysia Vasudevan's parents were from Palakkad. Chattu Nair of Ottappalam and Ammalu of Polpulli, along with their families migrated to British Malaya in search of a livelihood.
