Amadeus Austrian Music Award
The Amadeus Austrian Music Awards is the annual awards ceremony for excellence in the Austrian music industry. It has been awarded to the most successful Austrian musicians since 2000, and has been held in the Volkstheater in Vienna each March since 2012. It is the Austrian equivalent to the Grammys. History The awards ceremony was founded by IFPI Austria in 2000, and was broadcast by the Austrian national broadcaster Österreichischer Rundfunk (ORF). Andi Knoll hosted the show. In 2008, the broadcasters Puls 4 and ProSiebenSat.1 Media began hosting the ceremony together. Michael Ostrowski hosted the show from 2008 until 2010, and Manuel Rubey began hosting in 2012. The Grammy Awards, stylized as GRAMMY, and often referred to as The Grammys, are awards presented by The Recording Academy of the United States to recognize outstanding achievements in music. Gasometer, Vienna
The Vienna Gasometers are four gasholder houses, built as part of the municipal gas works in Vienna, Austria. The original gasholder houses were constructed from 1896 to 1899. They are located in the 11th district, Simmering. They were used from 1899 to 1984 to house gas holders, also known as gasometers, each with a storage capacity of 90,000 cubic meters (3 million cu. ft.). After the transition from town gas to natural gas between 1969 and 1978 the three gasholder houses were no longer used and were shut down. Only the brick exterior walls were preserved. The structures have found new residential and commercial use in modern times. Andi Knoll
Andreas "Andi" Knoll (born 11 June 1972 in Innsbruck) is an Austrian radio and television presenter. He has served as the Austrian commentator for the Eurovision Song Contest since 1999. Eurovision Song Contest Since the 1999 contest (with the exception of 2009) Knoll, following on from radio journalist and actor Ernst Grissemann, has been the Austrian commentator for the Eurovision Song Contest and, since 2002, he has hosted the Austrian national finals for Eurovision. Volkstheater, Vienna
The Volkstheater (translated as "People's Theatre") in Vienna was founded in 1889 by request of the citizens of Vienna, amongst them the dramatist Ludwig Anzengruber and the furniture manufacturer Gebrüder Thonet, Thonet, in order to offer a popular counter weight to the ''Hofburgtheater''. It was erected according to designs by Ferdinand Fellner and Hermann Helmer, who attempted to reconcile their plans with historicism (art), historicism.
