Amadeus (TV Series)
''Amadeus'' is an upcoming television miniseries adapted by Joe Barton from the 1979 stage play of the same name by Peter Shaffer, and gives a fictional account of the lives of composers Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Antonio Salieri. It itself was inspired by Alexander Pushkin's short 1830 play '' Mozart and Salieri''. The series is starring Will Sharpe as Mozart with Gabrielle Creevy as his wife Constance and Paul Bettany as court composer Antonio Salieri as well as Enyi Okoronkwo, Lucy Cohu, Jonathan Aris and Rory Kinnear. ''Amadeus'' is a play by Peter Shaffer which gives a fictional account of the lives of composers Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Antonio Salieri, imagining a rivalry between the two at the court of Joseph II, Holy Roman Emperor. First performed in 1979, it was inspired by Alexander Pushkin's short 1830 play '' Mozart and Salieri'', which Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov used in 1897 as the libretto for an opera of the same name. The play makes significant use of the music of Mozart, Salieri and other composers of the period. The premieres of Mozart's operas ''The Abduction from the Seraglio'', ''The Marriage of Figaro,'' ''Don Giovanni'', and ''The Magic Flute'' are the settings for key scenes. Caterina Magdalena Giuseppa Cavalieri (18 March 1755 – 30 June 1801) was an Austrian soprano. Born as Katharina Magdalena Josepha Cavalier in Lichtental, Vienna, Cavalieri studied voice with composer Antonio Salieri. Her stage debut was in 1775 in Pasquale Anfossi's opera ''La finta giardiniera (Anfossi), La finta giardiniera''. Cäcilia Weber
Cäcilia Cordula Weber (née Stamm; 23 October 1727 – 22 August 1793) was the mother of Constanze Weber and the mother-in-law of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Biography She was born in Mannheim, the daughter of Johann Otto Stamm, a government secretary, and Sophia Elisabeth Wimmer. She married (1733–1779) on 14 September 1756, and had four daughters: Josepha, Aloysia, Constanze, and Sophie. Constanze was the only one who did not become a professional singer, but, according to Mozart, she possessed a fine voice and musical ear. The children were born in Zell im Wiesental, but the family moved to Mannheim soon after Sophie was born. Cäcilia first met Mozart in 1777, when he came to Mannheim in search of a job. He fell in love with her daughter Aloysia during this stay and departed for Paris after finding no permanent position in Mannheim.
