Am Bilstein (Hückeswagen)
Am Bilstein is the name of an area of open land and prominent viewing point in the borough of Hückeswagen, county of Oberbergischer Kreis, in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Location The place lies today immediately next to the Wupper Reservoir. Its neighbouring villages are Dürhagen, Hammerstein and Voßhagen. The place may be reached today on the A 7 path, from which a small side path branches off (signed). There is a viewing point protected by railings with a panoramic view of the reservoir. Before the construction of the dam there were also views of the village of Dörpe Dörpe is a small river of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is 6.5 km long and flows into the Wupper near Hückeswagen. Hückeswagen
Hückeswagen () is a town in the north of Oberbergischen Kreis, in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is part of the governmental district of Cologne. Geography Hückeswagen is situated on the river Wupper. Two dams, Bevertal dam and Wuppertal dam, are near the city. Hückeswagen's location in the narrow valley and well as the castle mountain are notable. It is located approximately 40 km away from Cologne. Nearby towns are Radevormwald, Wipperfürth, Wermelskirchen and Remscheid. The coat of arms of Hückeswagen The arms were granted on August 9, 1892. The arms show in the upper part the lion from the arms of the Counts of Berg, who bought the area in 1260 from the Counts of Hückeswagen. The Oberbergischer Kreis (, ) is a ''Kreis'' (Districts of Germany, district) in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Neighboring districts are Ennepe-Ruhr, Märkischer Kreis, Olpe (district), Olpe, Altenkirchen (district), Altenkirchen, Rhein-Sieg, Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis, and the urban districts Remscheid and Wuppertal. Wupper Reservoir
The Wupper () is a right tributary of the Rhine in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Rising near Marienheide in western Sauerland it runs through the mountainous region of the Bergisches Land in Berg County and enters the Rhine at Leverkusen, south of Düsseldorf. Its upper course is called the Wipper. Both names are related to "weave", and refer to the twisting course. On its course of about , the Wupper passes through the city of Wuppertal where the suspension railway runs for above the river. It is crossed by the highest railway bridge in Germany near Müngsten, between Remscheid and Solingen. A few kilometers further down, Burg Castle is located on a hill overlooking the river. Hammerstein (Hückeswagen)
Hammerstein is a municipality on the river Rhine in the district of Neuwied in Rhineland-Palatinate in Germany. Near the village, is the Hammerstein castle. The ancient German noble family Hammerstein, which have sponsored the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York, comes from here. History The north-eastern part of the Hammerstein district was crossed by the Upper Germanic Limes during the Roman Empire. Part of this border wall was the small fort "Am Forsthofweg", which is located on today's municipal territory.
