Alvin Townley
Alvin Townley (born 1975) is an American author who writes about adventure, service, and inspiration. His most recent book, ''Defiant'', about prisoners of war and POW families during the Vietnam era, is his fourth nationally acclaimed work. He debuted with his best-selling book ''Legacy of Honor: The Values and Influence of America's Eagle Scouts'' (St. Martin's Press, New York, 2007), a story of his cross-country journey, during which he met Eagle Scout (Boy Scouts of America), Eagle Scouts from all walks of life. In 2009 Townley released ''Spirit of Adventure: Eagle Scouts and the Making of America's Future''. National Scout Jamboree
In Scouting, a jamboree is a large gathering of Scouts and/or Girl Guides who rally at a national or international level. History The 1st World Scout Jamboree was held in 1920, and was hosted by the United Kingdom. Since then, there have been twenty-four other World Scout Jamborees, hosted in various countries, generally every four years. The 26th World Jamboree is to be held in Poland in 2027. There are also national and continental jamborees held around the world with varying frequency. Many of these events will invite and attract Scouts from overseas. Stephen Breyer
Stephen Gerald Breyer ( ; born August 15, 1938) is an American lawyer and retired jurist who served as an associate justice of the U.S. Supreme Court from 1994 until his retirement in 2022. Sea Base, formerly known as Florida National High Adventure Sea Base, is a high adventure base run by Scouting America in the Florida Keys. Its counterparts are Philmont Scout Ranch in northern New Mexico; Northern Tier in Ely, Minnesota, as well as Manitoba and Ontario in Canada; and Summit Bechtel Reserve near the New River Gorge National Park in southern West Virginia. The main Sea Base is located in Islamorada, Florida, on the end of Lower Matecumbe Key. Northern Tier is a collection of high adventure bases run by Scouting America in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness of Minnesota, Ontario's Quetico Provincial Park and Canadian Crown Lands, Manitoba's Atikaki Provincial Wilderness Park, Woodland Caribou Provincial Park, and points beyond. Northern Tier is the oldest of the four High Adventure bases operated by Scouting America; the other bases currently in operation are Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico, Sea Base in the Florida Keys, and Summit Bechtel Reserve in West Virginia. The oldest and largest of the Northern Tier bases is the Charles L. Sommers National High Adventure Base.
