Alvin Tan (artist)
Alvin Tan (born 1974) is a Singaporean artist, designer and creative director. He is one of the founding partners of contemporary art and design collective PHUNK, and the co-founder of eyewear label Mystic Vintage. Education Tan graduated in 1994 with a Diploma in Visual Communications (Graphic Design) from LASALLE College of the Arts. In 2015, he earned a Masters in Fine Art from Goldsmiths, University of London / LASALLE College of the Arts. Career As a solo artist, Tan has collaborated with brands such as Cartier, Johnnie Walker and Onitsuka Tiger. In 2008, he was selected to be part of the Design Jury for the inaugural Cannes Lions Award. In 2015, Tan was invited to create a sculpture piece for the sixth edition of ArtStage Singapore. PHUNK
PHUNK (previously known as :phunk and Phunk Studio) is a Singapore-based contemporary art and design collective founded by Alvin Tan, Melvin Chee, Jackson Tan, and William Chan in 1994. They have exhibited and collaborated with artists, designers and fashion brands around the world, producing work across a diverse range of mediums. PHUNK was awarded Gold and Silver medals by Promax Asia in six consecutive years between 2001 and 2006. Johnnie Walker
Johnnie Walker is a brand of Scotch whisky now owned by Diageo that originated in the Scottish burgh of Kilmarnock in East Ayrshire. The brand was first established by grocer John Walker. Onitsuka Tiger (co-branded as Asics Tiger since 2022) is a Japanese sports fashion brand started in 1949 by Onitsuka Shōkai (鬼塚商会, Onitsuka Co., Ltd), a sports shoes company founded by Kihachiro Onitsuka.
