Alvand Hamedan F.C.
Alvand Hamedan F.C. (Former name Pas Novin Hamedan F.C.) is an Iranian football club based in Hamedan, Iran. After getting promoted to the Azadegan League, the team changed its name to Alvand Hamedan. In 2014 Alvand were relegated to the 2nd Division, after finishing 12th in the Azadegan League Group A. History Alvand Hamedan Sports Club was founded in 1970, but after a few years the club disappeared. In 2000 Shahrdari Hamedan Athletic and Cultural Club was established. After 10 years the club was dissolved and its licence in the 2nd Division was sold to Pas Novin, the reserve team of Pas Hamedan. After the team's name was changed to Alvand Hamedan, the team was allowed to participate in the Azadegan League. In 2014 Alvand was relegated back to the 2nd Division. Qods Stadium is a football stadium in Hamedan, Iran. It is currently used mostly for football (soccer), football matches, on club level by PAS Hamedan F.C. and Alvand Hamedan F.C. Hamedan
Hamadan ( ; , ) is a mountainous city in western Iran. It is located in the Central District of Hamadan County in Hamadan province, serving as the capital of the province, county, and district. As of the 2016 Iranian census, it had a population of 554,406 people in 174,731 households. Hamadan is believed to be among the oldest Iranian cities. It was referred to in classical sources as Ecbatana ( Old Persian ). It is possible that it was occupied by the Assyrians in 1100BCE; the Ancient Greek historian, Herodotus, states that it was the capital of the Medes, around 700BCE. Iran Football's 2nd Division
Iranian football's 2nd division () is the third-highest football (soccer), football division overall in the Iranian football league system. Before 2001, the 2nd division league was the second-highest division in the national football league system. However, it was changed to third-highest division when Iran's football structure officially became professional. The league consists of two, 14-team groups who play each other twice in a home and away format. The first- and second-placed teams in each group are automatically promoted to the Azadegan League. The bottom two teams in both groups are automatically relegated to the Iran Football's 3rd Division, 3rd division. If teams in the promotion or relegation spots are tied in terms of points, a home and away series will be played. The team with the best aggregate score will either avoid relegation or win promotion. 2013–14 Azadegan League
The 2013–14 Azadegan League was the 23rd season of the Azadegan League and 13th as the second highest division since its establishment in 1991. The season featured 17 teams from the 2012–13 Azadegan League, four new teams relegated from the 2012–13 Persian Gulf Cup ( Aluminium Hormozgan, Sanat Naft, Paykan and Gahar Zagros) and four new teams promoted from the 2012–13 2nd Division ( Naft va Gaz Gachsaran and Siah Jamegan both as champions and Sanaye Giti Pasand and Albadr Bandar Kong). Padideh replaced Mes Sarcheshmeh. The league started on 22 September 2013 and ended on 8 April 2014. Padideh won the Azadegan League title for the first time in their history. Azadegan League
The Azadegan League (, ''Lig-e Âzâdegân''), also known as League 1 (, ''Lig-e Yek''), is the second highest division of professional football in Iran. It was the top-level football league in Iran from its foundation in 1991 until 2001, when the Persian Gulf Pro League was established. Azadegan League operates on a system of promotion and relegation. Each year, the top finishing teams in the Azadegan League are promoted to the Persian Gulf Pro League, and the lowest finishing teams are relegated to League 2 (Iran), League 2. Since 2016, the league comprises 18 teams. The winner and the runner-up of the Azadegan League are automatically promoted to the Persian Gulf Pro League. Hazfi Cup (, ) formerly known as Pahlavi Cup () is an Iranian knockout football competition held annually by the Football Federation Islamic Republic of Iran. The Iranian Football League, Iranian football league was not held during the 1980s, hence the winner of Hazfi Cup represented Iran in the Asian Club Championship. The 2012–13 Azadegan League was the 22nd season of the Azadegan League and 12th as the second highest division since its establishment in 1991. The season featured 19 teams from the 2011–12 Azadegan League, three new teams relegated from the 2011–12 Persian Gulf Cup ( Shahin Bushehr, Shahrdari Tabriz and Mes Sarcheshmeh) and four new teams promoted from the 2011–12 2nd Division ( Esteghlal Ahvaz as champions, Gostaresh Foulad and Hafari Ahvaz).
