Alto Del Buitre
Alto del Buitre is a mountain of the Sierra Palomera range, Valencian Community, Spain. It reaches an elevation of above sea level. There is a triangulation station at the top marked "5195". It is located within the Ayora municipal term, rising 15 km SE of the town. The summit offers a good view of the surrounding landscape and is popular with hikers. There were fierce combats in the area of the Alto del Buitre in 1938 during the Levante Offensive of the Spanish Civil War. There are mountains named "Alto del Buitre" in Colombia and in Chile as well. The name means "High Place of the Vulture" in Spanish. Sistema Ibérico
The Iberian System ( es, Sistema Ibérico, ) is one of the major systems of mountain ranges in Spain. It consists of a vast and complex area of mostly relatively high and rugged mountain chains and massifs located in the central region of the Iberian Peninsula, but reaching almost the Mediterranean coast in the Valencian Community in the east. The system is hydrographically important, as it separates the watersheds of most of the major rivers in Spain and Portugal, including the Ebro basin from the basins of the Douro, Tagus, Guadiana ( Záncara- Gigüela), Júcar and Turia. Ayora
Ayora ( va, Aiora) is a municipality in the ''comarca'' of Valle de Ayora in the Valencian Community, Spain. It lies in the inland part of the Valencian Community on the border of the provinces of Albacete and Alicante. The Valley of Ayora runs between the mountain ranges of Sierra Palomera and Mugrón to the west, and Cortes de Pallás and the Caroig Peak. A triangulation station, also known as a trigonometrical point, and sometimes informally as a trig, is a fixed surveying station, used in geodetic surveying and other surveying projects in its vicinity. Levante Offensive
The Levante Offensive, launched near the end of March 1938, was an attempt by Nationalist forces under Francisco Franco to capture the Republican held city of Valencia during the Spanish Civil War. The Nationalists occupied the province of Castellón, but the offensive failed due to bad weather and the dogged resistance of the Republican troops at the XYZ defensive line.
