Alsatian Progress Party
The Alsatian Progress Party (german: Elsässische Fortschrittspartei) was a political party in Alsace, France. The party was founded in October 1926 by Georges Wolf and Camille Dahlet as a regionalist, secular and Radical party, roughly corresponding to Germany's Radical People's Party and France's Radical-Socialist Party.Fischer, Christopher J. Alsatian Dialect
Alsatian ( gsw-FR, Elsässisch, links=no or "Alsatian German"; Lorraine Franconian: ''Elsässerdeitsch''; french: Alsacien; german: Elsässisch or ) is the group of Alemannic German dialects spoken in most of Alsace, a formerly disputed region in eastern France that has passed between French and German control five times since 1681. Language family Alsatian is closely related to other nearby Alemannic German, Alemannic dialects, such as Swiss German, Swabian German, Swabian, and Markgräflerisch as well as Kaiserstühlerisch. It is often confused with Lorraine Franconian, a more distantly related Franconian languages, Franconian dialect spoken in the northwest corner of Alsace and in neighbouring Lorraine. Like other dialects and languages, Alsatian has also been influenced by outside sources. Popular Republican Union (1919–1946)
The Popular Republican Union (french: Union populaire républicaine, UPR) was a Christian democratic party in Alsace, France during the Third Republic. The UPR became the dominant party in Alsace during the Interwar era. In Lorraine, the Lorrain Republican Union (URL) was considered the UPR's sister party. Founded in 1919, the UPR attracted most of the Alsatian adherents of the Catholic Centre Party in Alsace-Lorraine, formed since the mid-1890s, forming with 31% of the seats the strongest party in the Landtag of the former Alsace-Lorraine. Ideologically, the UPR was much more conservative than the social-Catholic Popular Democratic Party, but more moderate than the main French Catholic party, the Republican Federation. The Independent Left (french: Gauche indépendante, GI) was a French parliamentary group in the Chamber of Deputies of France of the French Third Republic during the interwar period.
