Ally Pickering
Albert Gary Pickering (born 22 June 1967) is an English football manager and former professional footballer. As a player, he played as a defender from 1989 until 2003 notably in the Premier League for Coventry City. He has also played in the Football League for Rotherham United, Stoke City, Burnley, Chesterfield and Chester City, as well as spells in Non-League football for Altrincham, Hyde United, Gainsborough Trinity and Mossley. In 2001 he took charge of Mossley in a player/manager role and then went on to have spells in charge of Woodley Sports and New Mills before joining Hyde as their reserve team manager. Playing career Pickering was born in Manchester and began his career with non-league Buxton before becoming a professional with Rotherham United. The Football League Third Division was the third tier of the English football league system in 1920–21 and again from 1958 until 1992. The 1989–90 season was the 110th season of competitive football in England. Overview English clubs were still banned from competing in European competitions following the Heysel Stadium disaster. The season marked the beginning of the regular trend for clubs to leave their homes of many years and head for purpose built new stadia, following the bold move to Glanford Park by Scunthorpe United in 1988. Walsall and Chester City brought the curtain down on their many years at Fellows Park and Sealand Road respectively (both with games against Rotherham United). Walsall moved to the Bescot Stadium, while Chester began a groundshare with Macclesfield Town at Moss Rose until their new stadium was completed. Turf Moor
Turf Moor is an association football stadium in Burnley, Lancashire, England, which has been the home of Burnley F.C. since 1883. This unbroken service makes Turf Moor the second-longest continuously used ground in English professional football. The stadium is situated on Harry Potts Way, named after the manager who won the 1959–60 First Division with the club, and has a capacity of 21,944. The Turf Moor site has been used for sporting activities since at least 1843, when Burnley Cricket Club moved to the area. In 1883, they invited Burnley F.C. to use a pitch adjacent to the cricket field. The first grandstand was not built until 1885, while terraces were also added to each end of the ground in the same year. Between the mid-1950s and mid-1970s, all stands were rebuilt. Brian Little (footballer)
Brian Little (born 25 November 1953) is an English football manager and former player. As a player, Little was a striker who spent his entire career for Aston Villa in a career that spanned from 1971 to 1980. He made 247 league appearances, scoring 60 goals and earning a single cap for England in 1975. As a player he won the Football League Cup on two occasions in 1975 and 1977. As a manager he has been in charge of Wolverhampton Wanderers and Darlington before taking a job in with Leicester City, during his tenure he secured promotion to the Premier League by winning the play-offs in 1994. He was then appointed as manager of fellow top flight side Aston Villa where he went on to win the Football League Cup in 1996. Highfield Road
Highfield Road was a football stadium in the city of Coventry, England. It was the home ground for Coventry City F.C. for 106 years. History It was built in 1899 in the Hillfields district, close to the city centre, and staged its final game on 30 April 2005 when Coventry City beat Derby County 6–2 in the Football League Championship with the last goal appropriately being scored by Andy Whing, a product of Coventry City's youth academy. A concert by pop star Elton John was held at the stadium afterwards. The club then moved to the Ricoh Arena, at Foleshill in the north of the city.
