Astrid Allwyn
Astrid Allwyn (born Astrid Christofferson; November 27, 1905 – March 31, 1978) was an American stage and film actress. Early years Allwyn was born in South Manchester, Connecticut, part of a family that included four sisters and a brother. When she was three years old, her family moved to Springfield, Massachusetts. At age 13, she sang well enough in a concert to be offered a scholarship to the Boston Conservatory of Music, but she declined rather than move away from her home. After finishing high school, she moved to New York, hoping for a career as a concert singer, but she ended up taking classes at a business college and becoming a typist for a business on Wall Street. Career Allwyn studied dancing and dramatics in New York and later joined a stock company. Allwyn made her Broadway debut in 1929 in Elmer Rice's ''Street Scene''. Hyderabad Allwyn Limited, established in 1942, was a Hyderabad State government engineering and white goods manufacturing company involved in manufacture of automobiles, trucks, scooters, bus coach building, refrigerators and wrist watches. Allwyn Refrigerators and Allwyn Watches were once a leading brand in India during the 1970s and 1980s. The company was closed in 1995 after heavy losses, primarily due to mismanagement. Early History and Products Hyderabad Allwyn Limited was established in January 1942 as Allwyn Metal Works. It was started as joint venture of Industrial Development Trust of the Nizam's Hyderabad Government and M/s Allwyn & Company. Hyderabad Allwyn Metal Works Limited used to assemble Albion CX9 buses for Hyderabad State Railways, and made the ballot boxes for the first general elections in 1952. Allwyn Colony
Allwyn Colony is a residential colony in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. It is located on the northwest fringe of Hyderabad city and is near to Kukatpally. Allwyn Colony is divided into two phases called 1st and 2nd phases. The colony was constructed in 1980s by Hyderabad Allwyn for its employees. History Allwyn Colony is developed by the Allwyn Housing Development Society. The Colony was developed to solve the housing problems of the employees in Allwyn Company. So Independent houses have been constructed with different quarters like A-Type, B-Type, C-Type. A-Type has 120 yards of land while B-Type & C-Type quarters have 96 yards (the difference between B and C-Type being the number of rooms). All Quarters have been allotted based on the lottery system.
