Allen Jung
Allen Jung (August 8, 1909 – September 12, 1982) was an American film and television actor who was active in Hollywood from the 1930s through the 1970s. Biography Allen was born in Oakland, California. He attended the University of California, where he learned how to speak Japanese. He credited his education for preparing him to play Japanese roles. He also earned his pilot's license around this time. He began his career as an actor in the early 1930s; he was a member of the Chinese Cinema Players, an organization in Los Angeles. During World War II, he joined the U.S. Navy. He was married to Japanese actress Toshia Mori; he later married Helen Yu-Ling Wong in Shanghai. Toshia Mori
Toshia Mori (トシア・モリ) (January 1, 1912–November 26, 1995) was a Japanese-born American actress who had a brief Hollywood film career during the late 1920s and 1930s. Born as Toshiye Ichioka (市岡俊恵) in Kyoto, Mori moved to the United States when she was 10. Early life and career Mori began her film career in silent films in the late 1920s. In '' Mr. Wu'' (1927) she was credited as Toshia Ichioka. In '' Streets of Shanghai'' (1927), she was credited as Toshiye Ichioka. In ''The Man Without a Face'', she was also credited as Toshiye Ichioka, her birth name. (The film is presumed lost.) Finally, she entered the sound era as Toshia Mori. Mori played Miss Ling in ''The Hatchet Man'' (1932). In the same year, she played another Chinese character, "Butterfly", in ''Roar of the Dragon'', an action-melodrama produced by David O. Selznick. Written by Irene Kuhn, Edgar Allan Woolf and John Willard (playwright), John Willard, it was based on the List of works by Sax Rohmer, 1932 novel of the same name by Sax Rohmer. ''Murder by Television'' (1935) is an American mystery film starring Bela Lugosi, June Collyer, and Huntley Gordon. The film is also known as ''The Houghland Murder Case''. '' Submarine Raider'' is a 1942 American war film directed by Lew Landers and starring John Howard. Plot A Japanese aircraft carrier is heading to Hawaii, it sinks a civilian yacht. An American submarine receives their distress call. Three of the crew escape to a life boat but are shot at by a Japanese zero. Only a single female survives. She is rescued by a US submarine but they can’t send out the carrier’s position as all signals are being jammed by the Japanese aircraft carrier. The Japanese intercept the messages and realize one person survived. The sub surfaces and detects a Japanese plane, sent to attack them. They manage to hit the pilot and then crash dive. The plane continues to drop bombs on them, damaging the radio transmitter. The pilot then crashes into the ocean.
